Lisa Perrotti-Brown: Deep garnet-purple in color, the nose of the 2025 Barde Haut is a field of flowers-violets, roses, and lavender-leading to a core of black raspberries and black cherries, plus a hint of forest floor. The medium-bodied palate is wonderfully graceful with very fine-grained tannins and fantastic tension framing the perfumed black and blue fruit layers, finishing long and minerally. Gorgeous. Concentrated, lusciously textured, creamy, and fresh, the wine delivers an intensity of fruit and a surreal sense of purity that hits all your pleasure buttons. The finish is all about its nonstop, seamless layers of velvety fruit that coat your palate as they linger for over 60 seconds. Decanter: Wonderful fragrance, floral, clean, alive and expressive. Smooth and succulent, this has such a sapid character - plump and juicy but also really crystalline, mineral and firm around the edges with a lot of black liquorice, tobacco, and wet stone showing the gravely terroir. A bit marked by oak right now but this will be a beauty."

Jane Anson: The consistency and impressive quality of Beaumont is again in evidence, slate, cocoa bean, dark chocolate, a slate drag through the palate exactly as you want, delivering estate signature, ageing potential but above all a mouthwatering drinkabilty. Lisa Perrotti-Brown: Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2025 Berliquet hops from the glass with vivacious notes of wild blueberries and black raspberries, opening out to a fragrant undercurrent of peonies, star anise, and wild sage with a touch of tilled loam. The medium- to full-bodied palate is bright as a penny with a crisp line and very fine-grained tannins supporting the tightly wound blue and black fruit layers, finishing with a skip in its step. Jeb Dunnuck: A brilliant, deeply hued wine, the 2025 Château Beychevelle is based on 52% Cabernet Sauvignon, 43% Merlot, and 5% Petit Verdot, and is still resting in 70% new oak. One of the earliest harvests ever recorded at this château, with very tiny yields, it has a ripe, sexy, gorgeously textured style with ripe black cherries, graphite, spicy wood, and dried flowers on the nose. Super accessible and one of the best primeurs samples for consistency tasted three times. Ends salty with a stony grip. Completed new cellar in July 2024 with 114 vats. The team used a thermal camera for plot-by-plot harvest in 2025. New label as this vintage. 4% Petit Verdot completes the blend. 3.6pH. A yield of 30hl/ha. 60% grand vin production. Decanter: Picked through to 4 September to get as much ripeness as possible - reaching 14% alcohol with a low pH of 3.11 - a sensational dry white for the vintage! First you get classically Sauvignon Blanc aromas bright, lifted, and immediately expressive, marked by zesty lime, citrus peel, and a distinctive hint of margarita-like salinity that adds both charm and precision. Then comes the palate: a harmonious combination of freshness and breadth with an attack crisp and vibrant, yet quickly expanding into a more generous, rounded mid-palate thanks to both Sémillon in the blend as well as lees stirring. The wine, ageing in 10% new oak, delivers a satisfying sense of volume often missing in leaner vintages. And the added width never compromises its energy; instead, it enhances complexity and drinkability. The saline-citrus character carries through to a clean, persistent finish, reinforcing balance and structure."

Der Name von Caronne Sainte Gemme (Zweitwein Les Viviers de Caronne) hat einen interessanten Ursprung. Spricht man von den größten Weinen überhaupt, fällt immer auch der Name CHATEAU CHEVAL BLANC. 2015 erzielte eine 6 Liter Flasche des 1947-er Cheval Blanc in einer Auktion einen Verkaufspreis von sage und schreibe 304.375.- US Dollar. Doch so groß der Name, so

Zweimal waren wir auf CHATEAU CHEVAL BLANC zur Verkostung des Jahrganges 2025, und zweimal waren wir zutiefst beeindruckt von diesem grandiosen Wein. Dabei stellte der Jahrgang das Team von PIERRE OLIVIER CLOUET auf eine harte Probe. Die lange, mehrmonatige Trockenperiode kostete enorm Erträge, sodass letztlich eine Mini-Menge von lediglich 15hl/ha übrigblieb. Das sind Sauternes-Erträge und weniger als die Hälfte einer Normalernte für CHATEAU CHEVAL BLANC! 200 kg Beeren wurden benötigt um 100 Liter Wein zu produzieren. (Normalwert liegt ca. bei 130–160 kg Trauben für 100 Liter Wein.) Die Beerengewichte lagen bei 0,7 g! Das sind beeindruckende wie schockierende Zahlen. Kein Zweitwein, alles ging in den Erstwein, der, so mutmaßt man, in einer Auflage von nur 5.000 Kisten auf den Markt kommen wird. Ein Release, die gesamte Menge kommt auf den Markt, das war´s… Die Bewertungen sind enorm hoch und bestätigen unsere Aussage von Mitte April, lange vor jedem Bewerter – siehe Instagram. Sehen Sie sich unbedingt nochmal unseren Post und den Jahrgangskommentar von ARNAUD DE FOURCADE an. Unsere damalige Aussage: „…I can just recommend all of our customer to get on this wine...” Dies ist einer der Weine des Jahrganges. Derart präzise gezeichnet, mit niedrigem Alkoholgehalt von sage und schreibe 12,7% – Dank dem Regen vor der Lese – konturierte Säure und einem Charme und einer Frische, die nur CHATEAU CHEVAL BLANC zeigt. Das ist ein Hammer von einem 2025er, der unbedingt auf Ihrem Einkaufszettel stehen muss.

Jeb Dunnuck: Dense purple-hued, the 2025 Château Clinet is a ripe, sumptuous, and seamless beauty with so much to love. Ripe red, blue, and black fruits, violets, smoky tobacco, and chocolate all shine on the nose, and it's full-bodied on the palate, with a pure, layered, graceful mouthfeel, ultra-fine tannins, and a great finish. It shows just how successful the more clay-dominant soils of Pomerol were in this vintage, and it's unquestionably up with the crème de la crème of the vintage."

Jeb Dunnuck: A classy, focused beauty from the upper limestone plateau on the Right Bank, the 2025 Château Clos De Boüard relies on more Cabernet Franc than usual and shows it in its gorgeous perfume of ripe black cherries, framboise, graphite, spring flowers, and chalky minerality. On the palate, it's medium-bodied, with ripe tannins and beautiful overall balance."

Jeb Dunnuck: A blend of 78% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, and 2% Petit Verdot that's being raised 13 months in 60% new barrels with the balance in once-used oak, the 2025 Château Clos De Sarpe comes from one of my favorite estates in Saint-Emilion, and this barrel sample is absolutely riveting. A gorgeous perfume of cassis, liquid violets, graphite, and smoky tobacco nuances all shine on the nose, and on the palate, it's ripe, polished, and rounded, with the fresh, pure, focused style of the vintage and beautiful richness and depth. It checks in at 14.5% alcohol with a pH of 3.35. Tasted multiple times, it never failed to impress."

Decanter: Bright and expressive nose, full of perfumed roses, smells gorgeous. Round and filling, chewy tannins give a really lively and massy expression but with cool liquorice, wet stone and slate aspects around the side. It’s calm, certainly not as acidic and lively as some, but I love the confidence and completeness of this wine. Yummy and just really moreish. Excellent structure and extraction without being too much."

Jane Anson: Packed full of muscular tannins, each strand feeling luscious and silky, deep intense fruit, this is Pomerol at its heart, black chocolate, cocoa bean, olive tapenade, red rose petals, creamy blueberry fruits. Harvest finished here on September 23, started September 4. A little less Cabernet Franc than in some years, simply a reflection of the yield of the berries. Jean-Baptiste Bourotte once again making one of the wines of the vintage in Pomerol."

Decanter: Gorgeous aromas of orange, clementine and grapefruit with orange blossom, honey, straw and salted caramel vanilla. Juicy and so lively, lifted and almost sharp which perfectly counters the sugary mid-palate with buttery popcorn, butterscotch, pineapple and apricot fruit. I love the mineral, flinty finish. Sharp, bright, tangy and rich but ends clean and focused with impressive attention to detail and such focused purity on show. 140g/l residual sugar (one of the lowest in the appellation this year). A yield of 14hl/ha on 6ha. Ageing 90% in barrels (1/3 new) and 10% in others."

Jeb Dunnuck: Deep purple-hued, the 2025 Clos L'Eglise is a beast of a Pomerol with a powerful nose of ripe black fruits, liquid violets, gravelly earth, and chocolate. On the palate, it brings remarkable power, full-bodied richness, ripe, building, nicely integrated tannins, a dense, stacked mid-palate, and a great finish. It's a bomb of a Pomerol that's going to need some time."

Jeb Dunnuck: Coming from limestone soils, the 2025 Clos Lunelles is just brilliant, with red and black fruits, a liquid rock-like minerality, spice, and flowery nuances on the nose. It has an incredibly pronounced limestone character that runs through every layer of the wine. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, with ripe, chalky tannins and an almost salty character on the finish. I continue to think this is one of the greatest wines in the appellation."

Jane Anson: The inky glass staining colour is immediately apparent here, and this holds the fingerprint of limestone lightly, very much a juicy, slate-strewn, tiptoe through the palate kind of wine, with joy and lift, great stuff that is just joyful. Will take a few years to fully soften, but there is so much reserved energy waiting to be released. Highly floral violet and peony, rose stem. This is one to look out for, a buy for me. Malbec and very high Cabernet Franc, clear austerity at this early moment but will be worth the wait for limestone junkies. Harvest September 1/3 in barrels of which 10% is new. 3.30 pH. Ein monumentaler Wein voller Spannung, qualitativ über alle Zweifel erhaben. Steht dem herausragenden 2023er in nichts nach."

James Suckling: An incredible wine with electrifying acidity and great depth and concentration. It’s full-bodied and full of character, showing fresh and dried citrus, then honeysuckle and other white flowers. The palate takes off with bright, intense acidity. A pH of just over 3 gives a unique combination of tangy acidity and ripe fruit. Special white. 56% sauvignon blanc and 44% semillon. Best ever?"

Lisa Perrotti-Brown: Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2025 Côte de Baleau pops from the glass with energetic notes of raspberry preserves and red currant jelly, followed by hints of red roses, clove oil, and fallen leaves. The medium- to full-bodied palate has a very firm backbone of grainy tannins with a lively line cutting through the dense, muscular red preserves flavors, finishing long and perfumed."

Decanter: Well balanced wine. The flavours and aromas of plum and licorice are delivered in a palate of smooth tannin. For the price, what more do you want? The finish is marked by touches of spice from the oak aging at 30% new oak. A nice wine and not expensive!"

Jeb Dunnuck: Always a brilliant white from this estate, the 2025 Château Couhins Blanc comes from clay and limestone soils and is based on 96% Sauvignon Blanc and 4% Sauvignon Gris. More stone and white fruits as well as chalky minerality and mint define the bouquet, and it's medium-bodied on the palate, with a concentrated mouthfeel, bright, racy acidity, and a great finish. It shows the riper style of the year while bringing chiseled, racy acidity, and it will keep for 30 years or more."

Decanter: A most successful wine whose aromas evoke ripe black fruit with a touch of reduction. The palate constitutes an appealing combination of smoothness, ripeness, and freshness as drawn from a healthy yield of around 37 hl/ha. Notably juicier than many other Pessac-Léognan reds in its price range, the palate offers a supple, flowing texture shaped by gentle extraction with already well-integrated tannins. Despite its concentration, the wine retains characteristic 2025 vintage freshness: an excellent achievement in terms of generosity, linear focus and drinkability."

Jane Anson: Medium to full intensity plum colour, this is intense, powerful, cloves and black pepper, great quality, plenty of ageing potential and this is skilful winemaking. Decanter: After tasting this barrel sample on three occasions, including with owner Jacques Lurton, I am convinced of the excellent quality from this 100% Sauvignon Blanc, as it evinces aromas and flavours of ripe pear, wet stone, chamomile, red apple, and lemon leading to a long finish. The wine shows impressive dry extract and depth, the 14% alcohol reflecting full ripeness. Although the harvest was entirely in August, it was not too early for fear of losing acidity, which resulting in some underripe or aggressive white wines in 2025, but not here. ageing includes 400-litre amphorae for added freshness, while lees stirring accentuates palate breadth. Healthy yields of 32 hl/ha."

Decanter: Yummy, cool acidity starts the expression with lovely soft, creamy, powdery tannins. I really like the cool Cabernet aspect here with soft dried herbs and crunchy, wet stone aspects. Controlled and refined, perhaps missing a touch more vibrancy and bright fruit, but this is true to Pauillac in a ‘cool’ vintage style. Chewy, grippy, still a little oak impacted on the finish but this will settle."

James Suckling: A well-balanced, round and flavorful blend of 62% cabernet sauvignon, 35% merlot and 3% cabernet franc. Medium-bodied with silky tannins and a velvety texture. Juicy fruits with a lift of spices. Persistent finish."
