JEB DUNNUCK: "Lots of juicy cherries, red plums, incense, graphite, and candied violet notes define the aromatics of the 2024 Château Clos de Sarpe. Medium-bodied, it has a layered, ripe mouthfeel, good mid-palate depth, and ripe tannins. Both barrel samples I tasted showed promise, although the wine was a touch hard to read at this stage. Still, I have no doubt it will come together beautifully in bottle. This remains one of my favorite châteaux on the Right Bank and continues to be a hidden gem."

THE WINE CELLAR INSIDER: "Vibrant, crisp, fresh, juicy, and salty fruits leaning towards the red fruit side of the style range provide one of the best examples of limestone terroir. Fresh, crisp, fruity, and firm, there is much to appreciate here; however, the wine will need patience before it is ready to go. The wine blends 78% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, and 2% Petit Verdot. Drink from 2029-2048."

JAMES SUCKLING: "Some ripe cherries and berries plus hazelnut chocolate on the nose. Racy and bright on the palate, this has medium to full body and firm, fine-grained tannins. Flavorful finish with some tart cherries at the end."

LISA PERROTTI-BROWN: "Deep garnet-purple colored. Comes bounding out with exuberant notes of kirsch, plum pudding, and fruit cake, leading to hints of rose oil, balsamic, and sandalwood. The medium-bodied palate is plush with lifted acidity and stewed red berry flavors, finishing spicy."

FALSTAFF: "Dunkles Rubingranat, opaker Kern, violette Reflexe, zarte Randaufhellung. Zarte flüchtige Nuancen, rote Beeren, frische Orangenzesten. Straff, rotbeerig, lebendiger Säurebogen, zitronig im Nachhall, rassig, Preiselbeeren im Abgang, braucht Zeit, im Moment noch schwierig."
