JEB DUNNUCK: "Ripe blue fruits, spring flowers, graphite, and a kiss of minerality all emerge from the 2023 Château Petit Gravet Aîné, a medium-bodied, incredibly elegant Saint-Emilion coming from sandier soils near Canon-La- Gaffelière. The purity of fruit, as well as the overall balance, are impressive. I think the cellar will be your friend on this one."

JAMES SUCKLING: "A racy, classy and linear wine with blackberries, minerals, stones and flowers. It’s medium- to full-bodied with very fine tannins and a racy finish. Creamy texture as well. 65% merlot, 25% cabernet franc and 10% cabernet sauvignon."

JAMES SUCKLING: "Intense blackberry and chocolate aromas with plenty of ripe pips and spices. Medium body with fluidity and a sense of wonder to it. The quality of the tannins is so good as to be imperceptible. It has 30% more tannin than the 2022, but then it grows on the finish. pH 3.65 and 14.5% alcohol."

FALSTAFF: "Dunkles Rubingranat, violette Reflexe, dezente Randaufhellung. Zart nach Brombeeren und Kirschen, ein Hauch von Cassis und kandierten Orangenzesten, feines Nugat. Saftig, mittlerer Körper, frische Herzkirschen, feiner Säurebogen, mineralisch-salzig im Abgang, ein vielseitiger Speisenbegleiter."

JAMES SUCKLING: "Fresh and crunchy fruit on offer here, with medium body and vivid acidity. Velvety tannins that are well integrated, too. 56% cabernet sauvignon, 41% merlot and 3% petit verdot."

JAMES SUCKLING: "The polish and intensity of this wine is beautiful for the vintage, with blackcurrant, lead pencil and light chocolate character. It’s medium- to full-bodied with well-integrated fruit and tannins, and a long finish. Velvet texture. Excellent potential. Fermented from selected yeast from the various parcels. 58% cabernet sauvignon, 39% merlot, 1.5% petit verdot, and 1.5% cabernet franc. Let’s see which is better in the end, 2022 or 2023."

JAMES SUCKLING: "Beautiful Pibran with very creamy tannins that are polished and integrated. Medium body. Refined and polished texture. Made mostly from vineyards in limestone soils. 54% cabernet sauvignon and 46% merlot. Better than 2022."

JAMES SUCKLING: "Wow. This is really excellent, with superb finesse and focus. It has tight density that is almost diamond-like in its brilliance. Medium to full body, with a quality of tannin that is incredibly seamless. Like silk in texture. A top Pichon Lalande. From organic and biodynamically grown grapes. 80% cabernet sauvignon, 17% merlot and 3% cabernet franc. May be better than 2022."

JAMES SUCKLING: "I like the freshness and linear character to this second wine of Pichon Lalande. It's medium-bodied with creamy and polished tannins that are fine at the end. It is linked from start to finish. 60% cabernet sauvignon, 30% merlot, 5% cabernet franc and 5% petit verdot."

FALSTAFF: "Tiefdunkles Rubingranat, opaker Kern, violette Reflexe, zarte Randaufhellung. Reifes Cassis, dunkle Kirschfrucht, zart nach Feigen und Nugat, kandierte Orangenzesten sind unterlegt. Komplex, stoffig, Brombeerkonfit, tragende Tannine, mineralisch, dezente Süße im Abgang, ein würziger Speisenbegleiter."

VINUM: "Ein faszinierender Duft, sehr tief, nobel, distinguierter als in anderen Jahren; klassisch am Gaumen, druckvoll, strukturiert, finessenreich, geschliffenes Tannin, feine Säure, ausgesprochen lang und mit salinem Abgang. Pichon-Eleganz auf höchstem Niveau."

JAMES SUCKLING: "This is solid and structured with an impressive concentration of fruit in the center-palate and chocolatey undertones. Medium- to full-bodied with firm yet very fine, almost silky tannins. Long finish."

JAMES SUCKLING: "This is very textural and refined with medium body and fine-grained tannins. Seamless and spreading on the palate, with a lingering, encompassing finish."

JEB DUNNUCK: "Bright citrus, pear, and honeyed flower notes all emerge from the 2023 Château Puygueraud Blanc, a juicy, medium-bodied, vibrant white that offers the sun-kissed fruit of the vintage while staying clean, crisp, and more mineral focused. It's a terrific white that will shine on the dinner table and drink well for a year or two."

JAMES SUCKLING: "Full of blackberry, black-olive and chocolate aromas and flavors on a medium to full body with lightly chewy tannins."

JAMES SUCKLING: "There is pretty tightness and purity to this wine. A well-focused palate, very integrated tannins and a long finish. One of the best ever?"

JAMES SUCKLING: "Cedar, tobacco and currant aromas and flavors. Medium body with fine, integrated tannins and a long finish. Lovely acidity to this. Citrus at the end. 71.6% merlot and 28.4% cabernet franc."

JAMES SUCKLING: "The purity of the fruit here is so impressive, with raspberry, lead pencil, cedar and sandalwood. Medium to full body with very fine and intense tannins that run the length of the wine. Mineral. Tensioned. Beautifully integrated and sophisticated at the end. Lightly salty. 78.3% merlot and 21.7% cabernet franc."

LISA PERROTTI-BROWN: "The white 2023 Rahoul sashays out with showy notes of orange blossoms, allspice, and lemongrass, leading to a core of apple pie and pear drops. The medium-bodied palate is crunchy and well-structured with appealing texture and freshness, finishing with a citrusy lift."

JAMES SUCKLING: "This is really polished and silky with a ripe, dark-fruit character and a creamy texture. It’s medium-bodied with a smooth, velvety finish."

JAMES SUCKLING: "Creamy and tight tannins here, alongside succulent dark-berry, spice and crushed-stone notes. It’s medium-bodied, firm and focused with a velvety finish."

JAMES SUCKLING: "A Rauzan-Segla with solid tannins that are muscular, well toned and beautiful. Black currants, blueberries and flowers. Chewy finish. One for the cellar. Classic. The cabernet went to the gym. 85% cabernet sauvignon, one of highest percentages ever."

FALSTAFF: „Helles Gelbgrün, silberfarbene Reflexe. Sehr zarte weiße Tropenfrucht, Nuancen von Birne, Wiesenkräuter, feine Limettenzesten. Mittlerer Körper, wirkt leichtfüßig, frisches Kernobst, angenehme Säurestruktur, mineralisch-zitronig im Nachhall."

JAMES SUCKLING: "A fine and linear red with a solid structure, polished tannins and medium body. Fresh on the finish."

JEB DUNNUCK: "The 2023 Château Ripeau comes from the upper plateau, not far from Figeac and Cheval Blanc, and is based on 65% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Cabernet Sauvignon, aging in new barrels. Its deep purple hue is followed by a beautiful nose of cassis, ripe red plums, spring flowers, and beautifully integrated oak. With medium to full-bodied richness, it has the juicy, elegant style of the vintage and brings solid mid-palate depth, as well as terrific overall balance. This lively, fresher, floral 2023 will benefit from 2-4 years of bottle age and evolve gracefully."

JAMES SUCKLING: "This is so muscular yet elegant, with super-intense tannins that make the finish leaner but so long. The character of blackberry and lead pencil is intense. Goes on for minutes. 80% merlot and 20% cabernet franc."

VINUM: "Wuchtig, reiffruchtig, doch mit Tiefgang und Schliff; ein Mund voll Wein, süsse Frucht, feinste Gerbstoffe, trotz Kraft schwingt Frische mit; langanhaltend, elegant, harmonisch."

JAMES SUCKLING: "A full and juicy red with plum, chocolate, and toasted oak that impress right away. It’s layered and intense with lots of flavor at the finish, going on for minutes. Better than 2022."

JAMES SUCKLING: "Very refined and classy, with ultra-fine tannins and blackcurrant and hazelnut character, suggesting very pure fruit and precise picking times. Medium-bodied and chewy, yet caressing."

JAMES SUCKLING: "This has a super-refined and silky tannin structure. Tastes pure and pristine, with notes of blackberries, violets and a touch of chocolate. Medium-bodied with a firm finish."

JAMES SUCKLING: "Lovely freshness and balance with berries, orange peel and crushed stone. It's medium-bodied with nice, round tannins. Pure merlot."

THE WINE CELLAR INSIDER: "I like the freshness here, which is exacerbated by its notes of citrus, red fruits, flowers, licorice, smoke, and cocoa. On the palate, the wine is equally complex with its opulent, lush, polished, silky-textures, and crush-rock accents. There is length, and purity here. The change in the in barrel aging program has allowed for more freshness, elegance, and purity to express itself in the wine. The wine blends 87% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. 14.5% ABV. Harvesting took place September 20 - October 3. Drink from 2028-2045."

VINUM: "Auch dieses Jahr mit verführerischem Parfüm, Veilchen, Kräuter, dunkle und rote Beeren; am Gaumen präzis, frisch und lebendig, seidige Tannine, knackige Frucht, wunderbar ausbalanciert, mit viel Charme und sehr guter Länge. Kauftipp!"

VINUM: "Frisch, zitrisch, mit feiner Würze und delikater Aprikosennote; üppig im Auftakt, zeigt Biss, eine hervorragende Säure kontert die hohe Süsse, aromatisch komplex und mit langem, dezent salinen Abgang ist das ein äusserst gelungener Süsswein ohne jegliche Schwerfälligkeit."

JAMES SUCKLING: "Wow. This is really well done with plenty of al-dente fruit character, bright acidity and firm, fine tannins that are already well integrated. Medium-bodied. Crunchy."

VINUM: "Was für ein Duft, tiefgründig und komplex, florale und würzige Noten, Grapefruit, Mango; üppig am Gaumen, viel Druck, sehr gute Struktur, die Säure kontert die reife Frucht, wie immer ausbalanciert, mit viel Spannung und grossartiger Länge!"

JAMES SUCKLING: "This has a big structure of polished tannins that are energetic and punchy. Medium to full body with beautiful blackcurrants, as well as dark tobacco and wet earth. Chewy at the end, but a pointed and focused finish. More structured than 2022. 60% cabernet sauvignon and 40% merlot. From organically grown grapes."

JAMES SUCKLING: "Probably one of the most structured and stony SHLs I have ever had. Full yet very tight and compact palate with tannins that are like a tightly wound ball of silk. It goes on for a very long time. The cab berries were very small and they delivered a fantastic backbone of tannins, but at the same time intensity of vivid and reserved fruit. This is really long and classic in structure. The elevage in barrel will polish the fantastic, pure tannins. 70% cabernet sauvignon, 23% merlot, 6% cabernet franc and 1% petit verdot. From biodynamically grown grapes."

JAMES SUCKLING: "Good vibration here, with edgy, fresh acidity that makes it long and vivid. It's medium-bodied and tight, with sliced lemon and green apple and stone character. Better than 2022? 80% sauvignon blanc and 20% semillon."
