The Wine Cellar Insider: Flowers, currants, cherries, forest floor, tobacco, and licorice scents fill the perfume. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, sweet, polished, and creamy. There is great energy, giving lift to the finish that carries through to the supple polished finish. One of the top values in Margaux, this is a big step-up in quality from pervious vintages, and the sign of good things to come. Decanter: Dark heady scents on the nose, ripe blackcurrants with some dark chocolate touches. Quite a hands off style with lovely fruit purity and delicacy in terms of tannins and wood. A touch grippy on the finish with some cooling liquorice and stony aspects. Really well balanced and well delivered, harmonious with a lovely supple, bounce. Deep and concentrated but with no heaviness.This is really not trying to be something it can't. Fine delicate, compelling. One of the best EP samples I've tried from this estate. 3.7pH. Ageing 16 months, 30% new barrels, 50% one year, 5% amphora."

Lisa Perrotti-Brown: Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2025 La Vieille Cure rocks up with exuberant notes of plum preserves and stewed black cherries, followed by hints of Chinese five spice, cedar chest, and wet slate. The full-bodied palate has a solid structure of grainy tannins and refreshing acidity to support the taut, muscular black fruit, finishing savory."

Jeb Dunnuck: Deep purple-hued, the 2025 Château La Violette has a gorgeous nose of ripe red, blue, and black fruits as well as spicy herbs, chocolate, and graphite. Based on 100% Merlot that will spend 14 months in new barrels, it's rich and concentrated on the palate, medium to full-bodied, with ripe, polished tannins and a great finish. This ultra-classic, pure, seductive, incredibly impressive Pomerol will certainly play with the top wines in the vintage. It's the finest wine I've tasted from this château in some time. Bravo."

Weinwisser: 100 % Sémillon, 12 hl/ha, Alkohol 13.5 vol%, Restzucker 175 g/l. Betörendes Elixier, frisches Birnenmark, Mirabellenkompott, Mandarinenöl. Im zweiten Ansatz Tahiti-Vanille und Quittengelee. Am öligen, energiegeladenen Gaumen mit balancierter Rasse, feinpfeffrigem Extrakt, elegantem Körper. Im konzentrierten, nicht enden wollenden Finale Pfirsichkonfitüre, Kumquats sowie zarte Bitternis im Rückaroma. Kann in der perfekten Trinkreife die Höchstnote erhalten."

Decanter: Sour cherries and red plums on the nose, very fresh. Smoky and woody on the palate, but in good balance with creamy dark berries like blueberries. Surprisingly smooth and round for St Estephe. Good and juicy finish, lingers long."

Weinwisser: 55 % Cabernet Sauvignon, 34 % Merlot, 9 % Cabernet Franc, 2 % Petit Verdot. Dicht verwobenes, rotbeeriges Bouquet, heller Tabak, Graphit, erkalteter Hagebuttentee. Am komplexen, tiefgründigen Gaumen mit seidiger Textur, besticht durch energiegeladene Rasse und ist zugleich ungemein kraftvoll; engmaschiges, reifes Tanningerüst, perfekt trainierter Körper. Im konzentrierten, aromatischen, langen Finale roter Johannisbeernektar, tasmanischer Bergpfeffer und feinmehlige Adstringenz. So gut wie noch nie."

Wir hatten zweimal Gelegenheit gemeinsam mit ERIC KOHLER, dem technischen Direktor und SASKIA DE ROTHSCHILD das 2025er Portfolio zu verkosten und können nur sagen: Was für ein genialer LAFITE – 4 Mal 100 Punkte liebe Weinfreunde. Lediglich 12,5% Alkohol, das gab es im Jahrgang 2020 das letzte Mal, wobei es zu erwähnen gilt, dass LAFITE tendenziell grundsätzlich niedriger im Alkohol ist. ERIC KOHLER vergleicht 2025 deshalb auch mit dem Jahrgang 2020, allerdings meinte er, dass die Tannine im Jahrgang 2025 weicher sind, der Wein aromatischer und früher trinkbar. Was macht diesen 2025 CHATEAU LAFITE ROTHSCHILD so speziell? Die Lese startete mit dem 02. September zwar sehr früh, für den Jahrgang aber nicht ungewöhnlich früh. Die Erträge liegen ebenso im Jahrgangsrahmen. Der Regen Ende August verhalf diesem Wein zu dieser Besonderheit, bestehend aus einerseits Druck, Frucht, Süße und enormer Dichte, andererseits aber dieser ungemeinen Frische und Energie, dieser Mineralik und Salzigkeit. In sich ein Paradoxon, in dieser Kombination aber genial. Insofern unser Rat: Kaufen Sie sich etwas von diesem grandiosen Premier Cru, Sie werden es nicht bereuen! Wenn Sie Lafite Liebhaber sind, dann ist 2025 Ihr Jahrgang.

James Suckling: A linear wine with very fine tannins that remind me of the great Les Pensees of the 1990s. Perfumed and sophisticated. Medium-bodied, integrated and pure. Dense yet agile. 67% merlot and 33% cabernet franc."

Jane Anson: Highlights the nature of Perrières, with its expansion through the mid palate that lets out creamy raspberry and blueberry fruits with a shot of chalky tannins and crushed oyster shell. Love the hidden depths of Perrières. This is the sixth vintage, and the vines are getting a little older, able to better withstand the dry summer. 33% new oak for ageing. Harvest September 5 to 15."

Lisa Perrotti-Brown: Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2025 Lafleur is closed to begin, needing a lot of patient swirling to unlock scents of ripe plums and juicy blackberries, opening out to reveal a fragrant undercurrent of violets, licorice, mint tea, and underbrush with a hint of mossy tree bark. The medium-bodied palate is the archetypal iron fist in a velvet glove-at once powerful and taut with its stacked black fruit, floral, and mineral layers and very firm tannins, yet velvety-textured with incredible tension, finishing very long, perfumed, and graceful with a persistent hum of minerals. Edifying. The blend is 49% Merlot and 51% Bouchet (Cabernet Franc). The alcohol is 13.5%."

James Suckling: A vivid and tangy white with aromas of Asian pears, green apples and hints of crushed stones and salt. It’s medium-bodied, tight and bright, with al dente fruit at the end. 100% sauvignon blanc."

Falstaff: Dunkles Rubingranat, opaker Kern, violette Reflexe, dezente Randaufhellung. Frische Herzkirschen, Mandarinenzesten, floraler Touch, rotes Waldbeerkonfit unterlegt. Saftig, elegant, feine Extraktsüße, reife Tannine, frisch und bereits gut entwickelt, verfügt über sehr gute Länge, sicheres Zukunftspotenzial, sehr charmanter Stil."

Vinum: Tiefgründig, mit einem Hauch von Reduktion, braucht etwas Zeit, offenbart dann einen komplexen Duft nach dunklen Beeren, Tabak und floralen Noten; am Gaumen von grossartiger Saftigkeit, wie ein Biss in einen Korb voll frischer Beeren, keinerlei Holz spürbar, top Tannin, viel Zug, präzis, strukturiert, langanhaltend. Ein finessenreicher Lafon-Rochet, der voller Anmut Lafite küsst."

Jeb Dunnuck: Deep purple-hued, the 2025 Château Lagrange offers up ripe blue and black fruits, spicy wood, smoky tobacco, violets, and graphite on the nose. Based on 77% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Merlot, and 5% Petit Verdot that will spend 21 months in 50% new French oak, it checks in at 13.5% alcohol with a pH of 3.5. On the palate, it's rich and medium to full-bodied, with a pure, layered, graceful mouthfeel, velvety and integrated tannins, ample mid-palate depth, and a great finish. It's another brilliant wine from this château, which has been making absolutely world-class wines for some time now without the recognition they deserve."

Falstaff: Tiefdunkles Rubingranat, opaker Kern, violette Reflexe, zarte Randaufhellung. Zarter Nougat, schwarze Kirschen, tabakig unterlegte Kräuterwürze, Brombeerkonfit. Kraftvoll, komplex, dunkle Beerenfrucht, reife, tragende Tannine, mineralisch-salzig im Abgang, zeigt Länge und Entwicklungspotenzial."

Vinum: Ein weiteres Weingut, bei dem es seit einigen Jahren steil nach oben geht: florale Nase, Orangenblüten über dunkler Beerenfrucht, subtile Röstnoten, zeigt Tiefgang und Komplexität; leicht cremiger Auftakt, satte, dabei knackige Frucht, sehr gut strukturiert, klasse Tannin, perfekt dosierte Säure, das Holz bleibt nobel im Hintergrund; langanhaltend, fokussiert, frisch und mit viel Eleganz im Finale. Für rund 15 Franken ist das ein Must Buy!"

Jeb Dunnuck: The 2025 Château Langoa Barton is based on 45% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 15% Cabernet Franc, checking in at 13.5% alcohol with a pH of 3.55. Darker currants, smoky tobacco, graphite, and tons of violet and floral nuances all shine on the nose, and it has remarkable purity, full-bodied richness, a broad, layered mouthfeel, and ripe, polished tannins on the palate. The finish is a blockbuster. It's probably the greatest Langoa ever."
