JEB DUNNUCK: "All Sauvignon Blanc, the 2022 Les Champs Libres Blanc is straight-up brilliant, and I'd easily put this in the top handful of whites in the vintage (and I'd say that for many vintages today as well). Honeyed flowers, minty herbs, crushed stone, and citrus all define the aromatics, and it's medium to full-bodied, wth a beautifully layered, seamless mouthfeel, high acidity, and a distinct salinity on the finish that keeps you coming back to the glass. This is a masterclass in world class Sauvignon Blanc that readers shouldn't miss if given the chance."

JAMES SUCKLING: "This is really crunchy and pure with a black-cherry, orange-peel and mineral character. It’s medium-bodied with intensity and purity. Salty, minerally and vivid. Exciting. From limestone soils."

JEB DUNNUCK: "All Merlot pulled from 8.5 hectares of vines on the eastern side of the appellation, the 2023 Château Lafleur-Gazin sports a deeper ruby/purple hue as well as rocking red and black fruits that give way to spicy oak, chocolate, and loamy earth-like nuances. This richly textured, medium to full-bodied Pomerol has a round, lush mouthfeel, terrific mid-palate depth, and outstanding length. Count me impressed. This is worth checking out."

JAMES SUCKLING: "This is very St.-Estephe, with blackcurrant, lead pencil, graphite and crushed stone. Medium-bodied, linear and structured. Excellent finish. 64% cabernet sauvignon, 29% merlot, 4% petit verdot and 3% cabernet franc. 13.35% alcohol. 3.75 pH."

JAMES SUCKLING: "This is tight but has creamy, round tannins and a juicy character. Blackberries, chocolate and spices on the medium-bodied palate. Chewy and polished."

JAMES SUCKLING: "Plenty of blackberry and black-olive character to this, with cedar and sandalwood undertones. Medium to full body, firm and creamy tannins and a fresh, linear finish. More fruit and tannin at the end, but in a reserved way. 80% merlot, 15% cabernet franc and 5% cabernet sauvignon."

JAMES SUCKLING: "There’s depth of fruit here with blackberries, blackcurrants and hints of cedar and tobacco. The tannins are very solid and polished with juiciness and depth. Pristine. Bright acidity. 60% cabernet sauvignon, 37% merlot and 3% cabernet franc."

JAMES SUCKLING: "This is really classic in character, with a fine tannin structure and medium body. It starts slowly and then accelerates quickly into intense black cherries, currants and a salty note. Savory and subtle. 86% merlot and 14% cabernet franc."

JEB DUNNUCK: "Reminding me of a great Saint-Estèphe, the 2023 Château Larrivaux has beautiful cassis and darker raspberry-like fruit as well as some smoky oak, violet, and damp earth-like nuances. Medium to full-bodied and ripe, with velvety tannins, it's a beautiful Haut-Médoc that has so much to love. I suspect it will be a smoking value as well."

Le Conseiller wird, wie auch La Croix-St.-Georges, La Confession und La Croix Mouton von Jean-Philippe Janoueix gemanagt. Er beweist hier wieder einmal, dass exzellenter Wein aus Bordeaux nicht die Welt kosten muss. 27 Hektar sind auf Chateau Le Conseiller zu 85% mit Merlot und 15% Cabernet Franc bepflanzt. Shows depth and structure, too. Bright and vivid on the finish. Lightly chunky. Second wine of Leoville Las Cases. 61% cabernet sauvignon, 31% merlot and 8% cabernet franc."

JEB DUNNUCK: "As to the Grand Vin 2023 Château Léoville Poyferré, it's similarly purple-hued and has a perfumed, upfront profile in its red and black fruits as well as notes of graphite, spicy wood, and spring flowers. It's quintessential Saint-Julien on the palate with its supple, elegant profile, and it’s medium to full-bodied, with a deep, layered mid-palate, gorgeous tannins, and a great finish. It's a stunning 2023 with depth, richness, and length. The blend is 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 32% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 2% Petit Verdot."

JAMES SUCKLING: "This is one of the best young Lalande de Pomerols I have had. It is very deep and complex on the palate, with pure fruit, spice and chocolate. Lovely tannins, too. 80% merlot and 20% cabernet sauvignon."

JEB DUNNUCK: "The 2023 Château Lespault-Martillac Blanc is another terrific white in the vintage. Honeyed orange blossom, pineapple, and minty, floral notes all emerge on the nose, and it's medium-bodied, with beautifully integrated oak, good acidity, and outstanding length. Based on 70% Sauvignon Blanc and 30% Semillon, aging in one-third new barrels, it’s well worth your time and money."

JAMES SUCKLING: "This really takes off at the end. It’s medium-bodied with excellent tannins that run the length of the wine. Very solid. 78% cabernet sauvignon and 22% merlot."

JAMES SUCKLING: "The chalky character in this wine is really pretty, with blackberry and blueberry undertones. Hints of violets, too. Medium to full body. Crunchy finish. Solid core to this. Better than 2022?"

THE WINE CELLAR INSIDER: "The wine quickly focuses you on its floral characteristics paired with black raspberries, plums, black, with white cherries, dark chocolate, and just an edge of coffee beans. The palate however, is where the excitement takes place. The wine is opulent, rich, aromatic, concentrated, and long. The mark of freshness is there, but, you also experience the wine's elegance, and silky tannins, as well as its length, and width on the mid-palate, and finish. Interestingly, here, it was the moderate amount of sun hours that helped make the vintage as it shielded the grapes from the late summer heat wave. From a blend of 90% Merlot with 10% Cabernet Franc, 14.60% ABV. The harvest took place September 10-September 14. It is great to see continuing strong wines from the Durantou family. Drink from 2029-2060."
