Jeb Dunnuck: Always a brilliant white from this estate, the 2025 Château Couhins Blanc comes from clay and limestone soils and is based on 96% Sauvignon Blanc and 4% Sauvignon Gris. More stone and white fruits as well as chalky minerality and mint define the bouquet, and it's medium-bodied on the palate, with a concentrated mouthfeel, bright, racy acidity, and a great finish. It shows the riper style of the year while bringing chiseled, racy acidity, and it will keep for 30 years or more."

Decanter: A most successful wine whose aromas evoke ripe black fruit with a touch of reduction. The palate constitutes an appealing combination of smoothness, ripeness, and freshness as drawn from a healthy yield of around 37 hl/ha. Notably juicier than many other Pessac-Léognan reds in its price range, the palate offers a supple, flowing texture shaped by gentle extraction with already well-integrated tannins. Despite its concentration, the wine retains characteristic 2025 vintage freshness: an excellent achievement in terms of generosity, linear focus and drinkability."

Jane Anson: Medium to full intensity plum colour, this is intense, powerful, cloves and black pepper, great quality, plenty of ageing potential and this is skilful winemaking. Jacques Lurton owner and winemaker along with niece Mathilde de Caix-Lurton. Harvest September 3 to 19. 39 hl/ha. 50% new oak."

Decanter: After tasting this barrel sample on three occasions, including with owner Jacques Lurton, I am convinced of the excellent quality from this 100% Sauvignon Blanc, as it evinces aromas and flavours of ripe pear, wet stone, chamomile, red apple, and lemon leading to a long finish. The wine shows impressive dry extract and depth, the 14% alcohol reflecting full ripeness. Although the harvest was entirely in August, it was not too early for fear of losing acidity, which resulting in some underripe or aggressive white wines in 2025, but not here. ageing includes 400-litre amphorae for added freshness, while lees stirring accentuates palate breadth. Healthy yields of 32 hl/ha."

James Suckling: Fresh and bright, with aromas of sliced oranges, dark berries and cedar that follow through to a medium body with fine tannins and a crisp and bright finish."

Decanter: Yummy, cool acidity starts the expression with lovely soft, creamy, powdery tannins. I really like the cool Cabernet aspect here with soft dried herbs and crunchy, wet stone aspects. Controlled and refined, perhaps missing a touch more vibrancy and bright fruit, but this is true to Pauillac in a ‘cool’ vintage style. Chewy, grippy, still a little oak impacted on the finish but this will settle."

Weinwisser: 100 % Sémillon, 11 hl/ha, Restzucker 153 g/l. Verhaltener Beginn, zartes Birnenkompott, Vanille und Orangenöl. Am öligen Gaumen mit viel Kraft, herrlicher Extraktfülle und sattem Körper. Im gebündelten, aromatischen Finale Trockenfrüchte, Akazienhonig und Schokomousse."

Decanter: Slightly reductive on the nose. Good structure, beautiful, crunchy fruit, and very polished tannins. Black and red cherries, blueberries, combined with savoury notes of nettle and tobacco. A classic that is already very accessible but promises a good future as well."

James Suckling: A tight and juicy red with blackberry, cherry, plum and spice aromas and flavors. It’s medium-bodied with a creamy texture and a crunchy finish. Refined for the vintage, with plenty of character and length."

James Suckling: A firm and linear wine showing crunchy orange peel, raspberry and fresh violet aromas that follow through to a medium body with firm and silky tannins and a vivid finish. Excellent energy in this second wine from d’Issan. 65% cabernet sauvignon, 32% merlot and 3% petit verdot."

Decanter: Aromatic intensity, wild flowers, some chocolate and blackcurrant notes. Red cherries. Grippy and filling but soft, chalky and saline, a gorgeous weight on the palate with ripe bramble berries, cool blue fruit and lots of cola, liquorice and wet stones. Very transparent and hands off. A touch straight but lovely muscular edge without the heft. Juicy, fun, clean, pure. Balanced. Savoury. Great job controlling the extraction - tannins are there but this is sapid too. A little more serious and structured and perhaps overall elegant than Clerc. A 2% dash of Petit Verdot completes the blend."

Falstaff: Tiefdunkles Rubingranat, opaker Kern, violette Reflexe, zarte Randaufhellung. Feinwürzig unterlegte, reife, schwarze Kirschenfrucht, tabakige Nuancen, Brombeerkonfit unterlegt. Komplex, saftig, frisch strukturiert, rote Kirschen und etwas Ribisel im Nachhall, lebendig, leichtfüßig wirkender Speisenbegleiter mit Reifepotenzial und Finesse."

Jeb Dunnuck: Bright citrus and orchard fruit, mint, and some spicy wood all emerge from the 2025 Château De Fieuzal Blanc, a serious Pessac-Léognan blanc based on 70% Sauvignon Blanc and 30% Sémillon, with the Sémillon aged in new barrels and the Sauvignon Blanc raised in once-used barrels. Medium to full-bodied on the palate, it has a nicely concentrated, balanced mouthfeel, integrated acidity, and a great finish."

Wine Advocate: The 2025 de Fieuzal, harvested between September 4 and 26, is a blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot and 10% Petit Verdot. It wafts from the glass with aromas of cassis, mulberries, wisteria and flowers. Medium- to full-bodied, layered and precise, it’s built around a fleshy core of fruit framed by velvety, finely grained tannins and concludes with a long, ethereal and perfumed finish. More structured than usual, it remains well balanced, supported by lively acidity and a subtle, gastronomic bitterness on the finish. It's a classical expression and one of the more compelling values in Bordeaux this year."
