Die „Nadel“, auf Deutsch übersetzt, ein weiterer NEIPPERG KLASSIKER, zeigte sich in diesem Jahrgang von beeindruckender Größe. Das Terroir auf diesem Weingut mit den extrem dünnen Böden verlangt perfekte Reife, um die Terroirnoten zu umschmeicheln und cremig zu formen. Und genau das passierte im Jahrgang 2025. Wer nun aber einen „Softy“ vermutet, weit gefehlt. Der Wein zeigte sich mit sehr floraler Aromatik, dunklen Beeren, traumhafter Frische und eben diesem seidigen Fluss, der sich nur in den ganz großen Jahrgängen so perfekt formt. Weinwisser: 100 % Sémillon, 11 hl/ha, Restzucker 153 g/l. Verhaltener Beginn, zartes Birnenkompott, Vanille und Orangenöl. Am öligen Gaumen mit viel Kraft, herrlicher Extraktfülle und sattem Körper. Im gebündelten, aromatischen Finale Trockenfrüchte, Akazienhonig und Schokomousse."

Decanter: Slightly reductive on the nose. Good structure, beautiful, crunchy fruit, and very polished tannins. Black and red cherries, blueberries, combined with savoury notes of nettle and tobacco. A classic that is already very accessible but promises a good future as well."

Die neuere Geschichte von Château d’Escurac beginnt mit dem Großvater des heutigen Besitzers, mit Jean Landureau. Er kaufte das Gut, um seiner Leidenschaft nachgehen zu können: Pferdezucht – nicht Weinbau. Sein Sohn Jean-Michel begann damit, Reben zu pflanzen und die Trauben bei der örtlichen Kooperative abzuliefern. Sein Sohn wiederum, Jean-Marc, war es dann, der sich dazu entschloss, diesen Weg

Decanter: Aromatic intensity, wild flowers, some chocolate and blackcurrant notes. Red cherries. Grippy and filling but soft, chalky and saline, a gorgeous weight on the palate with ripe bramble berries, cool blue fruit and lots of cola, liquorice and wet stones. Very transparent and hands off. A touch straight but lovely muscular edge without the heft. Juicy, fun, clean, pure. Balanced. Savoury. Great job controlling the extraction - tannins are there but this is sapid too. A little more serious and structured and perhaps overall elegant than Clerc. A 2% dash of Petit Verdot completes the blend."

Decanter: Lovely floral aromas are complemented by bright red berry fruit and subtle toast from the 40% new oak for aging. The palate is juicy and fruit forward with impressive tannic structure. The balance between alcohol, acidity and tannin is very good in this vintage. The success comes in no small part from the judicious extraction managed by consultant Eric Boissenot, his fifth vintage with this estate, as well as the cool clay and limestone soils. Bravo!"

Falstaff: Tiefdunkles Rubingranat, opaker Kern, violette Reflexe, zarte Randaufhellung. Feinwürzig unterlegte, reife, schwarze Kirschenfrucht, tabakige Nuancen, Brombeerkonfit unterlegt. Decanter: Lovely clarity to the aromas of summer red berries and soft dried herbs. Juicy and alive, I really like that this wine always delivers a playful Pomerol style - never too much - with fresh acidities, crisp fruit and salty tannins. Slightly firm and grippy as expected, with a soft undercurrent of power but overall lightly presented with charm. A touch of cinnamon and clove on the finish. 3.52pH. Ageing 12 months, 13% new oak barrels, 18% oak, 42% one year, 25% two years."

James Suckling: A fruity, well-built red with purple fruits, flowers and herbs on the nose. Medium- to full-bodied with plush tannins. Compact finish."

Jeb Dunnuck: Juicy red and black fruits, leafy herbs, leather, and graphite all define the 2025 Château Carlmagnus, a complex, medium-bodied Fronsac with ripe tannins and terrific overall balance. On the palate, it brings a terrific amount of fruit and texture."

Jeb Dunnuck: Bright citrus and orchard fruit, mint, and some spicy wood all emerge from the 2025 Château De Fieuzal Blanc, a serious Pessac-Léognan blanc based on 70% Sauvignon Blanc and 30% Sémillon, with the Sémillon aged in new barrels and the Sauvignon Blanc raised in once-used barrels. Medium to full-bodied on the palate, it has a nicely concentrated, balanced mouthfeel, integrated acidity, and a great finish."

Wine Advocate: The 2025 de Fieuzal, harvested between September 4 and 26, is a blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot and 10% Petit Verdot. It wafts from the glass with aromas of cassis, mulberries, wisteria and flowers. Medium- to full-bodied, layered and precise, it’s built around a fleshy core of fruit framed by velvety, finely grained tannins and concludes with a long, ethereal and perfumed finish. More structured than usual, it remains well balanced, supported by lively acidity and a subtle, gastronomic bitterness on the finish. It's a classical expression and one of the more compelling values in Bordeaux this year."

Jeb Dunnuck: A lovely, elegant wine, the 2025 Château La Cour D'Argent has a perfumed nose of ripe cherries, currants, spicy wood, and spring flowers. Based on 95% Merlot, 2.5% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 2.5% Cabernet Franc raised in second-use wooden conical vats, it's medium-bodied on the palate, with a pretty, focused mouthfeel and outstanding length."
