Nicht nur, dass wir OLIVIER BERNARD einfach mögen, seine Weine sind in jedem Jahr eine Klasse für sich selbst, qualitativ wie preislich. Und da die Familie BERNARD nun seit 40 Jahren auf DOMAINE DE CHEVALIER zugange ist, wird ein 40 Jahre-Sonderetikett den Jahrgang 2022 schmücken. Olivier ist selbst im Handel tätig, er weiß deshalb um
Preise und Märkte. Und wenn man dieser Domaine eines zuschreiben muss, neben
den herausragenden Qualitäten natürlich, dann ist es eine faire Preisgestaltung.
Jetzt aber zum Inhalt der Flaschen, die Qualität des 2022 DOMAINE DE CHEVALIER rouge und blanc ist nahezu nicht zu glauben: „Dunkle Kirschen, schwarzbeerige Früchte, Kräuter, Kakao. All das gewoben mit einem derart feinkörnigen Extrakt, mit schöner Viskosität, mit einer Noblesse, die ihresgleichen sucht.“ Das ist ein Traum von DOMAINE DE CHEVALIER. This year, Bruno Lemoine and his team employed whole-bunch fermentation for their Cabernet Franc, yielding excellent results. This charming, well-executed Pessac-Léognan is a blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Cabernet Franc and the remainder Merlot (notably reduced due to mildew)."

THE WINE ADVOCATE: "The 2023 L'Esprit de Chevalier, with its somber, dark character, evokes aromas of pencil lead, dark wild berries, violet, mulberries and spices, followed by a medium to full-bodied, ample and charming palate framed by a fleshy core of fruit, velvety tannins and an expansive, mouthwatering finish despite some oaky notes. This is a blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot."

The purity of ripe fruit is impressive with cabernet really showing through. 63% cabernet sauvignon, 30% merlot, 5% petit verdot and 2% cabernet franc."
