Und schon wieder hat Marielle Cazaux einen der Jahrgangsweine vinifiziert. Was für ein Traum von einem Pomerol Marielle unter Mithilfe von Thomas Duclos eingebracht hat, ist beeindruckend. 88% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Franc formen etwas, das man als außergewöhnlich bezeichnen muss. Dieser Wein hat Süße, reife Frucht, Gewürze, Tabak, Orangen und eine Qualität an Tanninen, die man nur als Weltklasse-Level beschreiben kann. Wir waren zweimal vor Ort und waren das zweite Mal trotz schlechtem Verkostungswetter, da Tiefdruck, nochmals euphorischer. Dieser Wein muss in Ihren Keller.

Chateau La Conseillante liegt in der Appellation Pomerol. Das Gutsgebäude von Chateau la Conseillante befindet sich in unmittelbarer Nähe der Grenze zur Appellation St. Emilion. Nachbargüter von la Conseillante sind die namhaften Chateaux Cheval Blanc, La Tour-Figeac, Vieux Château Certan und L´Evangile. THE WINE ADVOCATE: "The 2023 La Croix St Georges is a terrific effort from this estate that neighbors Le Pin and shares a similar gravelly terroir. Unfurling in the glass with aromas of mulberries, plums and raspberries mingled with hints of licorice and kirsch, it's medium to full-bodied, supple and layered, with a concentrated core of fruit and a seamless, complete profile."

If you want an outstanding wine that sells for song, with aromatics, intensity, finesse, and charm, along with a boatload of ripe, red fruits, creamy-textures, and a fruit-filled finish, this is for you. La Dauphine is now one of the top wines from Fronsac. Drink from 2027-2040."

DECANTER: "Beautiful floral aromatics, pot pourri and fresh flowers - smells gorgeous, roses, raspberries and red cherries with some milk chocolate and blueberries too. Nicely alive on the palate, upfront and forward, a juicy undercurrent lifting the structure. Clean and clear with a soft chalkiness to the ripe but cool red and blue fruits. Perhaps not as plump as usual, but there’s real finesse to the tannins, fruit and acidity. Lots of wet stones and graphite touches with a minty menthol element at the end. Excellent definition, there’s no faulting the precision on show. Great work from Gwendeline Lucas and winemaker Yann Monties with consultant Julien Viaud. 60% grand vin production. A yield of 49hl/ha. 3.85pH. Earliest and longest harvest at the estate, starting on September 6 until the 28 for the Merlots and from September 28 to October 3 for the Cabernets. Ageing 50% in new oak."

JAMES SUCKLING: "Pure old-vine merlot made a wine with tension and depth. It’s medium-bodied with juicy fruit and a savory finish. Plenty of black-olive and dark-fruit character. Juicy finish."

THE WINE CELLAR INSIDER: "Flowers, black cherries, and dark chocolate in a voluptuous, opulent style, with freshness, layers of dark red pit fruits, wet earth, and a velvety, lush, finish. This is a hedonistic wine that will deliver a lot of pleasure over the next 15-20 years. The wine was produced from 100% old vine Merlot. Drink from 2028-2047."

FALSTAFF: "Tiefdunkles Rubingranat, opaker Kern, violette Reflexe, zarte Randaufhellung. Zart würzig unterlegte dunkle Waldbeeren, Kirschen und Orangenzesten. Mittlerer Körper, frische Kirschfrucht, rote Waldbeeren, zarte Tannine, frisch strukturiert, mineralisch und anhaftend, ein lebendiger Speisenbegleiter."

Eines der Flagschiffe aus dem Haus J.P. Moueix. Und diesem Anspruch wurde 2023 La Fleur Petrus mehr als gerecht. 164,50 Euro anstatt 225,00 Euro (Jahrgang 2022) sind eine klare Ansage und machen diesen Wein extrem lukrativ. Beeindruckend dabei, dass die Cuvee aus nahezu 97% Merlot besteht, der Rest ist Cabernet Franc mit einem Schuss Petit Verdot. Ein konzentrierter, männlicher Pomerol mit dunklen Früchten, Gewürzen und einer derart grandiosen Finesse, dass es einem die Sprache verschlug. Das ist ein Super-Pomerol mit perfekten Bewertungen!

Chateau la Gaffeliere gehört mit seinen 16 Hektar Rebfläche seit dem Jahr 1611 der Familie de Malet Roquefort, was sie zur ältesten Winzerfamilie von St. Émilion macht. Weinberge gibt es auf dem Gelände von la Gaffeliere aber schon länger, wie mehrere Mosaiken zeigen, die die Besitzer 1969 dort entdeckten. Bereits seit Jahren sind wir hier umfangreich und mit großer Freude engagiert, denn Chateau La Gaffeliere ist mit einem Preis von 61,50 Euro (2022 78,50 Euro) ein absoluter Deal. Sehen Sie sich einmal die Bewertungen an, mehrfach bis 97 und sogar bis 98 Punkte! Wir haben zuvor noch keinen so grandiosen La Gaffeliere verkostet. Was nämlich die 60% Merlot und 40% Cabernet Franc am Gaumen anstellen, ist absolut beeindruckend. Dunkle Früchte, fein gewobene Tannine, dicht, straff, mit enormer Textur. Dabei hat dieser Wein derart Zug und Druck und ist aromatisch so beeindruckend, dass man nur kaufen kann. Das ist einer der Top-Weine des Jahrganges in St. Emilion, zu diesem Preis ohnehin.

WEINWISSER: "57 % Cabernet Sauvignon, 43 % Merlot, 45 hl/ha. Delikates verwobenes Bouquet, frischgepflückte Brombeere, Veilchen und edle Cassiswürze. Am satten Gaumen mit seidiger Textur, engmaschigem Tanningerüst, energiegeladener Rasse und geradlinigem Körper. Im konzentrierten, aromatischen Finale mit Schattenmorelle, Orangenzeste und feinkörniger Adstringenz. Top-Wert aus Pessac-Léognan! Neuer Weinkeller seit 5 Jahren, setzt weniger auf Kraft und mehr auf elegantere Tannine."

DECANTER: "Gooseberry, green apple, lemongrass, a hint of vanilla and verbena - lovely fragrance and aromatic on the nose. Clean and crisp. Juicy and alive, really focussed but this has such a vibrancy to it and perfect weight in the mouth. Gorgeous and because of the almost fleshy aspect you don’t get any harsh acidity. No aggressivity. A stunning white wine, gorgeous density, layered but precise too, it is crisp no doubt, there’s a firm line driving from start to finish with movement all the way through but then you get the expansive fruit, juiciness, soft chew and weight as well as a hint of sweetness. Fleshy peach, orange, grapefruit, lemon, apple, - so much going on here. A wonderful white from 2023. 3.09pH. 4% new oak for ageing, used to be 15%."

WEINWISSER: "Verspieltes blaubeeriges Bouquet, verführerischer Veilchenduft, Blutorangenzeste und heller Tabak. Am saftigen Gaumen mit seidiger Textur, nerviger Rasse, engmaschigem Tanningerüst und mittlerem Körper. Im gebündelten langen Finale Schattenmorellen-Nektar, Graphit und erhabene Adstringenz. Eine sichere Bank aus Pomerol."

JAMES SUCKLING: "A fresh and focused red with a medium body and fine tannins. It’s crunchy, with good fruit concentration in the center-palate, showing plum and redcurrant highlights. Bright and firm at the end. From biodynamically grown grapes with Demeter certification."

JAMES SUCKLING: "A subtle yet plush La Lagune with black olives, blackberries and hints of chocolate and hazelnut. Medium body with fine, polished tannins and a savory finish. There's a crunchy feel to it and it’s layered and deep at the end. 65% cabernet sauvignon and 35% merlot. No petit verdot."

JAMES SUCKLING: "The core of fruit in this is beautiful with seamless tannins that run the length of the wine and deliver a cylinder of refined fruit. Long at the finish. Better than 2022."

JAMES SUCKLING: "Serious density to this with phenolic framing, yet it’s agile and vivid with sliced-apple, lemon and mineral character. Flavorful finish. Tight and composed."

LISA PERROTTI-BROWN: "The 2023 La Marzelle is deep garnet-purple in color. Broody cedar and tar notes soon open out to reveal a compelling core of plum preserves, Morello cherries, and pencil shavings with a touch of bay leaf. The medium to full-bodied palate is chock full of juicy black fruits with a velvety texture and lovely freshness, finishing earthy. This is impressive!"

Dieses 6,35 ha Weingut kann auf 55 Jahre alte Rebstöcke zurückgreifen, die auf exzellenten, kalkhaltigen Böden wachsen. Seit 2004 ist La Mauriane als BIO Weingut zertifiziert. Mit 78% dominiert Merlot, ergänzt von 22% Cabernet Franc. Der Ausbau erfolgt zu je 50% in neuen Barriques und in Demi-Muids Fässern (ca. 650 l).

DECANTER: "A stunning white wine in 2023. Green apple, crisp and alive on the nose. Round and forward, gorgeous density and texture on the tongue, bright and fresh, a dash of sherbet lemon gives the zing, while this has a strict backbone like the red, keeping the focus on the fruit and the tension in equal measure. Alive and bright, not too full or too acidic. Great green apple, a touch of grapefruit and orange too. Gorgeous purity and crystalline aspects with some power underneath but all the while keeping straight and direct. Focussed and intentional. Remarkable. 3.2pH, 4 total acidity."

JAMES SUCKLING: "The solid center-palate and sure nature says La Mission, as it should, being the second wine of the estate. Medium body with a creamy and refined tannin structure that is long and true. Oyster-shell and blackcurrant character, as well as crushed stones. Direct. 48.3% merlot, 39.4% cabernet sauvignon and 12.3% cabernet franc."

Was sollen wir sagen? La Mission ist La Mission. Ein so genialer Wein, eine Performance, die alles in Bordeaux in den Schatten stellt, kommen die schwierigen alten Jahrgänge auf den Tisch. Und obwohl er nur auf der anderen Straßenseite von Haut Brion liegt, ist der Wein so anders als der Bruder. La Mission hatte für uns in unserer großen Verkostung auf dem Chateau etwas nahezu Royales, Aristokratisches. 53% Merlot kann man fast nicht glauben, die 29% Cabernet Sauvignon und 18% Cabernet Franc aber geben den Merlots derart viel Rückgrat, dass dieser Wein ungemein vielschichtig, seidig, balanciert und kraftvoll daherkam. Wir waren mega begeistert! 365,90 Euro kostete Mission im Jahrgang 2022, aktuell 249,00 Euro, das ist für diesen Wein wirklich ein Deal!

Die high-end Dependance unserer befreundeten Familie Neipperg. Ludovic Graf von Neipperg wohnt mittlerweile auf La Mondotte und wacht über die Reben und die traumhafte Aussicht Richtung Süden. Und jetzt kommt es, bevor wir über Qualität sprechen. Knapp 200 Euro kostete 2022 La Mondotte, liebe Weinfreunde, der Jahrgang 2023 liegt bei 149,90 Euro! Zwei Bewertungen bis 98 Punkte, zudem deren 19 im Weinwisser sind nur die halbe Wahrheit. Denn was sich im Glas abspielte, war einfach nur wunderschön. Schwarz-blaubeerige Aromatik, konzentrierte Frucht, Terroirnoten, Mineralik, selbst ein Schuss Zitrone. Dieser Mondotte war wirklich ein Statement!

JAMES SUCKLING: "An aromatic wine with violets, oranges and blackberries. Similar flavors on the palate, with creamy tannins with a hint of terra-cotta. I like the quality of the tannins. 80% merlot and 20% cabernet franc."

JAMES SUCKLING: "This is very crunchy, with bright blackberries, cherries and some chocolate. Medium body, supporting a solid core of fruit and a flavorful finish. Shows energy. Another excellent wine from limestone soils. 79% merlot and 21% cabernet franc."

JAMES SUCKLING: "Smooth and velvety red with vivid fruit character and juicy acidity. Medium-bodied. Fresh and bright finish."

JEB DUNNUCK: "The 2023 Château La Tour Blanche is a powerful, spicy, full-bodied effort that shows the quality of this vintage in Sauternes, which has a subtle kiss of 2003 in its opulent style. Caramelized orange, candied mint, spicy wood, and white chocolate notes all define the aromatics, and it has nicely integrated acidity, gorgeous overall sweetness, and a great finish."

JAMES SUCKLING: "A structured La Tour Carnet with dark currant, bark and wet earth. Medium to full body. Should develop nicely."

JAMES SUCKLING: "A white with character, showing sliced apple, lime and pear as well as minerals. Medium-bodied, crisp and crunchy."

JAMES SUCKLING: "A solid core of blackberry and blackcurrant with some walnut and cedar. Fine and creamy tannins. Juicy finish. Very well done. Better than 2022?"

JEB DUNNUCK: "An absolute classic Margaux, the 2023 Château La Tour De Mons offers up a complex bouquet of red fruits, sandalwood, Asian spice, leather, and dried flowers. It's medium-bodied and has a layered, elegant mouthfeel, silky tannins, and a great finish. I think it's going to drink well right out of the gate yet see no reason it shouldn't have two decades of overall longevity."

WEINWISSER: "Intensives rotbeeriges Bouquet, zarter Iris-Duft, Sandelholz und Walderdbeerkonfitüre. Am komplexen saftigen Gaumen mit cremiger Textur, herrlicher Extraktfülle, stützender Rasse und straffem Körper, dicht, präzise. Im konzentrierten langen Finale rotbeerige Konturen, getrockneter Rosmarin, dunkler Graphit und feinkörnige Adstringenz. Top-Wert aus St.-Émilion von der Familie Rettenmaier. Die nächsthöhere Wertung liegt in Reichweite."

DECANTER: "A Fronsac that has been on a roll, this year exhibiting ripe plum, savoury black olive and a touch of vanilla, reflecting new oak, but also with palate tension and mid-palate sap. Slightly hard tannin on the finish does not dry out, and the ageing will soften matters for this wine made from grapes that had been harvested between 14-29 September. 14.5% alcohol and ageing between 12-15 months in 40% new oak. 3.45pH."

JEB DUNNUCK: "From the team of Château Le Gay and a smaller production release based on 100% Merlot vinified and aged in new barrels, the 2023 Château La Violette is slightly deeper purple-hued and offers an absolutely awesome bouquet of red and blue fruits, smoked earth, graphite, spring flowers, and incense. Complex, layered, and nuanced, it hits the palate with full-bodied richness, a broad, layered, seamless mouthfeel, ultra-fine tannins, and a great, great finish. It's up with the top handful of 2023s and is a brilliant effort in the vintage."

WEINWISSER: "Opulentes blaubeeriges Bouquet, verführerische Veilchen, dunkle Pralinen und Irisduft. Am kompakten Gaumen mit weicher Textur, stützender Rasse und geradlinigem Körper, sehr dicht. Im gebündelten aromatischen Finale schwarzbeerige Konturen, exotisches Edelholz und Brasil-Tabak."

JEB DUNNUCK: "Revealing a deeper gold hue, the 100% Semillon 2023 Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey has a ripe, decadent bouquet of caramelized pineapple, honeyed mint, spice, and candied orange. It's a rich, powerful, full-bodied monster of a Sauternes offering terrific sweetness, bright, integrated acidity, and a great finish. Count me impressed. It's another heavenly sweet wine in the vintage."

JAMES SUCKLING: "Blackberries and blueberries with a hint of crushed stone. Medium body. Juicy fruit. Fine tannins. Some graphite and tar."

2023 CHATEAU LAFITE ROTHSCHILD ist der im Durchschnitt aller Verkoster höchstbewertete Premier Cru des Jahrganges. Wir hatten die Gelegenheit, die gesamte Range aller Weine zweimal verkosten zu können, mit Saskia de Rothschild persönlich auf deren Pomerol Dependance Chateau L`Evangile zu sprechen und können Ihnen nur eines sagen, wir sind restlos begeistert. Sehen Sie sich einmal die Bewertungen an, wenn da das Herz eines Bordeaux-Trinkers nicht höher schlägt. Ebenso 2023 CARRUADES DE LAFITE ist mit dem 2019er Preis-und Bewertungen bis zu 96 Punkten hochinteressant.

Jahr für Jahr einer der top Zweitweine in Bordeaux und dies nunmehr zumindest zu deutlich erschwinglicheren Konditionen. 208,00 Euro sind zwar immer noch respektabel, aber im Vergleich zu deren 257,00 Euro im Vorjahr schon deutlich angenehmer. 60% Cabernet Sauvignon und 40% Merlot bilden die Cuvee. Die 15% Presswein in der Cuvee geben enorm Zug und Druck, sodass sich dieser Carruades sehr kraftvoll und dynamisch, aber ebenso super balanciert zeigte, ein sehr aristokratischer Wein.

THE WINE ADVOCATE: "The 2023 Lafleur is one of a small number of contenders for the title of wine of the vintage, and it's one 2023 that appears to surpass its 2022 counterpart. Wafting from the glass with aromas of blackberries, cherries and plums mingled with hints of licorice, violets and mint, it's full-bodied, deep and layered, with a concentrated core of lively, succulent, pure fruit framed by beautifully refined tannins, concluding with a long, fragrant finish. Its exquisite structure, intensity without weight and ineffable harmony mark it out as a great Lafleur, and one that will be worth a special effort to seek out. It's a blend of 56% Cabernet Franc and 46% Merlot."

JAMES SUCKLING: "The texture to this is really something, with tannins that are silky and totally integrated. It remains so lifted and weightless, but then it runs long and tight. Very attractive citrus fruit and blueberries, as well as a touch of tile and ceramic. Caresses your palate. 70% merlot and 30% bouchet (cabernet franc)."

JEB DUNNUCK: "All Sauvignon Blanc, the 2022 Les Champs Libres Blanc is straight-up brilliant, and I'd easily put this in the top handful of whites in the vintage (and I'd say that for many vintages today as well). Honeyed flowers, minty herbs, crushed stone, and citrus all define the aromatics, and it's medium to full-bodied, wth a beautifully layered, seamless mouthfeel, high acidity, and a distinct salinity on the finish that keeps you coming back to the glass. This is a masterclass in world class Sauvignon Blanc that readers shouldn't miss if given the chance."

JAMES SUCKLING: "This is really crunchy and pure with a black-cherry, orange-peel and mineral character. It’s medium-bodied with intensity and purity. Salty, minerally and vivid. Exciting. From limestone soils."
