Chateau La Garde 2024

Decanter: "Lovely ripe red fruit aromas. Clean and succulent, juicy and so easy to like this straight away. You can feel the minerality in the wine in the cool, crushed stones, saline aspects with bite but there’s also a gentle aspect which delivers the tannins in such a refined manner. A touch chewy and sweet too, really a lot going on here. I love it, a graceful wine this year. Not a blockbuster of course but very enjoyable and well made. Finessed and sophisticated with uber charm. A totally delicious and easy drinking wine. Great energy, sapidity and freshness. Delicate but just so drinkable. Tasted twice. 3.62pH. no pigeage, no remontage, only infusion. 5% press."

James Suckling: "Some citrus and crunchy cherries, dried flowers and peppery berries. Medium-bodied, textured and linear, this has fine-boned tannins and good precision. Elegant. 55% cabernet sauvignon and 45% merlot."

Falstaff: "Dunkles Rubingranat, violette Reflexe, dezente Randaufhellung. Zarte Zwetschkenfrucht, ein Hauch von Brombeerkonfit, einladend und charmant. Saftig, mittelgewichtig, feine Herzkirschnoten, mineralisch und frisch strukturiert, zugänglich, ein vielseitiger Speisenbegleiter."

Jane Anson: "Slim and savoury with lovely bright fruits, well handled, good quality, this is showcasing the vivid and just-skirting-ripeness character of the vintage, but it works, and is very well handled. Last vintage with Frederic Bonnaffous as Wine Director."
