2025 CHATEAU HAUT BRION hat 20 WEINWISSER, zudem zahlreiche 99 und 100 Punkte Bewertungen, was ihn zu einem der besten Weine des Jahrganges macht. Wir waren zwei Mal vor Ort und verkosteten alle Weine. Dieser 2025er weckte Erinnerungen an den legendären 1989er, was für ein Monument, was für eine Referenz! Und dieser 2025er war eine ebenso beeindruckende Vorstellung dieses Chateaus, ein Hammer von einem Wein. Betrachtet man den IPT-Level von über 100, ein Paramater, der die Konzentration der Tannine beschreibt, kann man sich vorstellen, wie komplex dieser Wein ist. Das sind Werte, die normalerweise nur in Regionen wie dem Napa Valley erreicht werden. Davon aber abgesehen, die Dichte, die dunklen, schwarzen Waldbeeren, die exotischen Gewürze und Kräuter, all dies eingebettet in diese tragende Struktur, das ist absoluter Premier-Cru-Level. Wir lieben Haut Brion und der 2025er nimmt einen Rang ganz weit vorne ein. Gratulation!

The palate shows energy and freshness, with bright acidity carrying notes of sweet lime and a subtle saline edge. There is a pleasing richness to the texture, yet it remains poised and never heavy. A beautifully balanced and highly successful white, ageing in 50% new oak."

Lisa Perrotti-Brown: The 2025 Haut-Brion Blanc shimmies out with energetic notes of lime cordial, fresh grapefruit, and lemon curd, leading to suggestions of orange blossoms, sea spray, and yuzu zest with a touch of struck flint. The full-bodied palate is so satiny and seductive with electric citrus fruit flavors and minerally accents, finishing very long and fragrant. Magic. The blend is 53% Sauvignon Blanc and 47% Sémillon. The alcohol is 14.55%. It was aged in French oak barrels (45% new). This was tasted as a bottled wine."

The Wine Cellar Insider: Black currants, tobacco, red fruits and smoke hit the spot in the aromatics. Medium-bodied, fresh, and refined, there is a nice vibrancy, coupled with a light touch of chalk in the finish that really works well here. You can enjoy this with pleasure on release while waiting for the Grand Vin to develop. The blend is 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, and 5% Petit Verdot. Drink from 2028-2040."

Decanter: Really floral on the nose, expressive with ripe red and black fruit, incense perfumed scents and a rich headiness with such aromatic purity. Supple and velvety, round and lively with quite a delicate style here where the focus is on the clarity of the blueberry fruit and the lifted aspects rather than fleshiness or power. Almost understated, a word not often used with Pape. A soft salty, wet stone and chalky aspect on the finish. Definitely fresh with lots of energy here. Elegant and precise with a soft chew on the finish and ripe fruit. 1% Petit Verdot completes the blend. 3.68pH. A yield of 29hl/ha. Ageing 85% in barrels (1/3 new) and 15% in foudres. Harvest 3-25 September."

Decanter: Coming from gravely soils susceptible to heat stress, I am happy to report smooth tannins, crunchy red fruit and ripe juicy plum aromas and flavours. The palate is warm and enveloping for the vintage, without hard or protruding tannins accentuated by the acidity. The 12 month ageing in one-third new oak will lend breadth to the wine."

James Suckling: Very lemony, with botanicals and spices on the nose and palate. It's medium-bodied with tangy acidity and a long and flavorful finish. Energetic. 76.5% semillon and 23.5% sauvignon blanc."
