James Suckling: A powerful second wine with lots of chewy tannins and a stony and steely texture. Medium-bodied with a solid core of fruit and a fresh and bright finish. 52.6% cabernet sauvignon, 28.3% merlot, 18% cabernet franc and 1.1% petit verdot."

Jeb Dunnuck: A beautiful, layered second wine from this team, the 2025 La Chapelle De La Mission Haut-Brion checks in as 52% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28.3% Merlot, 18% Cabernet Franc, and a splash of Petit Verdot. Ripe black cherries, graphite, red plums, smoke, and tobacco are just some of the nuances on the nose, and it's full-bodied on the palate, with a pure, layered mouthfeel, fine and polished tannins, and a great finish."

Decanter: Nicely fragrant floral aromatics on the nose, expressive and open. Supple and round with a gorgeous soft crushed velvet texture and excellently integrated acidity that keeps it lifted and fresh but not too piercing. Great fruit purity with a lick of salty wet stones on the finish. Beautifully presented, all in harmony with a core of mineral, saline, mint, liquorice, cola, clove and cool aspects. Softly chewy with an enjoyable grip. Yum. Love it! 1.1% Petit Verdot completes the blend."

Falstaff: Tiefdunkles Rubingranat, opaker Kern, violette Reflexe, zarte Randaufhellung. Zarte Kräuterwürze, etwas Nougat, dunkle Waldbeeren, schwarze Kirschen, floraler Touch, kandierte Mandarinenzesten unterlegt. Mittlere Komplexität, wirkt leichtfüßig, elegant, balanciert, feine Tannine, salzig-zitronig im Abgang, ein delikater Speisenbegleiter."

Lisa Perrotti-Brown: Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2025 La Chapelle de la Mission Haut-Brion prances out with gregarious notes of fresh black cherries, juicy raspberries, and cassis, plus hints of lavender oil and pencil shavings with a waft of tree bark. The medium-bodied palate delivers fine-grained tannins and great tension to match the bright black and red berry flavors, finishing minerally. The blend is 28.3% Merlot, 52.6% Cabernet Sauvignon, 1.1% Petit Verdot, and 18% Cabernet Franc. The alcohol is 14.1%."

Jane Anson: Bright vivid fruits here, as is so often the case with La Chapelle, iris and peony fragrance, arresting mix of finesse and concentration, skilful construction. Early flowering around May 17, and no rain from flowering until mid-June, when 63mm fell in three hours, very helpful because then almost no rain until the end of August, with 41 days above 32C, all of which shows why they had 27hl/ha yield. Jean-Philippe Masclef last vintage before retirement. Harvest August 27 to September 19. 14% new oak. 3.78ph"
