Zweitwein eines mehrmals 99/100 Punkte dekorierten Erstweins

, so steht es zumindest gerahmt in seinem Büro geschrieben. Deshalb
unsere wiederholte Ansage: In großen Jahrgängen kauft man Zweitweine!

Wir hatten nämlich gerade wieder eines dieser Deja-vu Erlebnisse - den Zweitwein des legendären 1990 Chateau Montrose. Und da im Jahrgang 2022 Chateau Canon einer der gesuchtesten und besten Weine war, dekoriert mit mehreren 99 und 100 Punkte Bewertungen, müssen Sie sich unbedingt mit dem Zweitwein 2022 CROIX CANON zu lediglich 35,70 Euro, die Magnum zu unglaublichen 74,00 Euro eindecken. Der Erstwein nämlich war in Bordeaux binnen 10 Minuten ausverkauft und NICOLAS verriet uns hinter vorgehaltener Hand, dass er am liebsten gar keinen Zweitwein produzieren wollte, so gut war das Traubenmaterial. 59% Cabernet Franc und 41% Merlot formen einen derart rassigen 2022 CROIX CANON, dass uns die Spucke wegblieb, reif, saftig, mit irren Fruchtnoten, Tabak, Kaffee und Mokka, einfach nur ein Hammer von einem Zweitwein, der so gut ist, dass so mancher frühere Erstwein von Chateau Canon hier nicht mitkann. 3,5pH, das verrät wohl alles, knackig, mit Salznote und anständig Zug! Wir haben den Wein drei Mal verkostet, wir wissen, von was wir sprechen.

95-96 JAMES SUCKLING: "Very fine and polished with sweet tobacco and chocolate with green olives. Currants. Medium-bodied with fine and polished tannins with a lovely length. Friendly nature to this. Turns slightly salty..."

93 DECANTER: "Smoke, liquorice, charred tobacco, coffee and mocha notes on the nose. Ripe and softly fleshy on the palate, this has density and chew but no overt heaviness, remains light and tight with grip to the super fine but supportive tannins that fill the mouth. Has a touch of austerity in the bite and clean tang to the fruit with mineral edges of liquorice and slate. There’s power here no doubt, but this has spark and energy, a liveliness with concentration of black fruit. There's juiciness and a sense of precise cleanness on the palate that is so appealing and then the focus and tension comes in at the end. It feels quite powerful with some hints of alcohol at the end but also gives a lifted mint and liquorice freshness. 3.5pH. Ageing 16-18 months , 30% new oak."

DECANTER: "A fabulous showing for Bélair this year. Great aromatics, subtle not shouting, not too ripe, definitely more cool and fresh. Smooth and supple, a gorgeous weight and balance in the mouth. Crisp and fresh but creamy and fleshy too. Delicious, minty, racy and chiselled, lots of power but so well balanced, charming and sophisticated. Still lots of mint and tension on the finish with orange, bitter grapefruit, slate and graphite but wow this is amazing. The tannins are perfection, the juicy strawberry, cherry core together with a filling overall weight and texture and long length is excellent. Great stuff and really focussed on drinkability. You could drink this today but equally it will age very well. Fun and friendly, controlled and stylish. Lots of oak but this will settle after ageing (14 months in 50% new oak). 3.82pH."

JAMES SUCKLING: "I don't think I have tasted an Ausone like this. The purity of fruit and fluidity is so primary, like perfectly picked grapes with their juice. Then there is citrus freshness. It's muscular, with toned tannins that caress the palate and give a seamless finish. This really could push the boundaries for the character of Ausone, in the way of finesse with structure. Watch it. 60% cabernet franc and 40% merlot."

JAMES SUCKLING: "This is so elegant and sophisticated already, with a really electric presence and length that goes on and on. It's medium- to full-bodied with an intensity of tannins.
