-96 Punkte St. Estephe - 26,50 Euro
94-96 JEB DUNNUCK: "One of the more opulent, sexy wines in the vintage, the 2022 Château Capbern just about jumps out of the glass with its sweet red, blue, and black fruits as well as notions of chocolate, graphite, and leafy herbs. Full-bodied, concentrated, and textured on the palate, with ripe tannins, this stunning Saint-Estèphe is up there with the finest vintages I've tasted from this château."
92-94 THE WINE CELLAR INSIDER: "Spring mint, currants, black cherries, tobacco, and a touch of spice in the nose lead the way to the palate, which, even though the alcohol is high, the fruits feel fresh, and lively, with no touch of heat. You find a nice touch of oceanic influence at the end of the finish. The wine blends 53% Cabernet Sauvignon, 44% Merlot, 2% Petit Verdot and 1% Cabernet Franc. 15% ABV, 3.8 pH. Drink from 2026-2040."

JAMES SUCKLING: "A medium-bodied red with blackcurrant, spice and walnut aromas and flavors. Medium body, juicy fruit and fine tannins. Already pretty for this appellation. 70% cabernet sauvignon, 25% merlot, 3% petit verdot and 2% cabernet franc."
Chateau Cos d´Estournel 2023
Saint Estephe
JAMES SUCKLING: "The finesse is pretty phenomenal here, with such complexity of fruit and vivid, bright flowers. Lavender and rose. Seductive. Ever-so long and precise. Lead pencil and graphite. Reminiscent of old, great Cos, such as 1955 or 1982, but with so much more form and modernity. A renaissance of Cos. 65% cabernet sauvignon, 33% merlot, 1% cabernet franc and 1% petit verdot."
Chateau Clauzet 2023
Saint Estephe
JAMES SUCKLING: "This is compact and taut on the center-palate with medium body and a fine texture to the tannins that run smoothly across the palate, ending with a velvety texture. I like the freshness of the dark fruit here."

Chateau de Pez 2023
Saint Estephe
JAMES SUCKLING: "A beautiful Pez with a solid core of fruit and creamy, refined tannins. It’s complex with plenty of blackcurrant, graphite, lead-pencil and nutmeg flavors. Linear and polished texture. Very precise and defined. Better than 2022."
Chateau Montrose 2023
Saint Estephe
JAMES SUCKLING: "Wow. This is the essence of Montrose, with blackberry, blackcurrant, crushed stone and earth. I have not tasted a Montrose like this in 42 years of my career. It has a much more vertical nature to it, with layered tannins that go very deep and long, The muscular structure and intensity is something else. This is a new era for Montrose. It is now made from only 45 hectares of vineyards right in front of the chateau, instead of about 60 before. 75% cabernet sauvignon, 21% merlot and 4% cabernet franc."

Chateau Calon Segur 2023
Saint Estephe
JAMES SUCKLING: "Blackcurrant, blueberry, cedar, pine needle and black truffle here. I don't think much about the nose with barrel samples, but this is splendid. It's medium-bodied with very fresh acidity and fine, linear tannins that are long and lively. Energy here. Refined. Salty character at the last minute. I may like this better than 2022. A blend of 72% cabernet sauvignon, 15% merlot, 12% cabernet franc and 1% petit verdot."
