Doch nun zu CHATEAU SOCIANDO MALLET, ein Gut, dass wir lieben, da es Jahr um Jahr performt und dies zu nahezu unverschämt günstigen Preisen. 28,40 Euro für x-fache 94 und sogar 95 PUNKTE-Ratings, das ist ein derart fairer Deal, dass man hier einfach nicht nein sagen kann. Und ganz abgesehen davon, reifen die Top-Jahrgänge dieses Guts sensationell. 1990 ist ein Beispiel, aber auch 1982 oder 1985. Seit Kurzem wurde hier einiges umgestellt, unter anderem stellte das Team auf eine schwefelfreie Vinifikation um, ein Vorgehen, das maximale Sauberkeit und Präzision verlangt, von der Lese, über das Traubenmaterial bis hin zur Fermentation. Das Resultat ist ein Top-Wein, voller Gewürze, Kaffee und exotischer Früchte, schöner Power und Viskosität, dies aber eingerahmt in eine geschmeidige Tanninstruktur und Salzigkeit. Ein super Wert!

Sleek and so svelte, this has such a silky, almost creamy texture, tannins are gorgeous and this has such a juicy, lively core. Nothing out of place here. Super accessible and one of the best primeurs samples for consistency tasted three times. Ends salty with a stony grip. Completed new cellar in July 2024 with 114 vats. The team used a thermal camera for plot-by-plot harvest in 2025. New label as this vintage. 4% Petit Verdot completes the blend. 3.6pH. A yield of 30hl/ha. 60% grand vin production. Ageing 12 months in barrel, 35% new wood."

Jane Anson: Well made, sleek and deep dark fruits, cassis pastille, intense with a cushion of air. A very impressive vintage here, nuanced and well structured. Delphine Frey, Director of the Frey family estates, yield 20hl/ha. Xavier Moragues is the cellar master and technical director, with the estate for the past 18 months. New use of foudres and porcelain jars alongside oak barrels during the ageing, and the vineyard has also returned to its historic 1855 classified surface."

James Suckling: This has an attractive nose of asphalt and pure dark fruit. The palate is medium- to full-bodied with focused, fine-grained tannins, dark fruit and good balance. A powerful expression, but restrained."

Jane Anson: The consistency and impressive quality of Beaumont is again in evidence, slate, cocoa bean, dark chocolate, a slate drag through the palate exactly as you want, delivering estate signature, ageing potential but above all a mouthwatering drinkabilty. Jeb Dunnuck: Checking in as a blend of 53% Merlot, 21% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Cabernet Franc, and 8% Petit Verdot that's being raised 12 months in 38% new French oak, the 2025 Château Larrivaux offers up beautiful notes of cassis, ripe red fruits, spring flowers, graphite, and tobacco. Medium-bodied on the palate, it has a pure, graceful mouthfeel and ultra-fine tannins, with a gorgeous finish. I'd put this up with the finest vintages here."

Decanter: Dark blackcurrant with liquorice elements on the nose, smells fragrant and expressive. Juicy and fleshy, but round and softly filling, I like the fleshy, crushed stone aspect to this. Not trying too hard but giving a lot of generous fruit, salty tannins and still length. Great acidity, This will round out nicely.Easy drinking and will age."

Decanter: Black fruit and fragranced notes on the nose. Smooth and supple, round and really excellently weighted, nothing out of place with plenty of minty cool freshness, licks of graphite, liquorice and wet stones with a softly chalky finish. Excellent bargain this year. Plenty to like, easy to drink with a really classic, approachable aspect. This stands out this year. 3.80pH. A yield of 30hl/ha. 5% Petit Verdot completes the blend."
