THE WINE ADVOCATE: "Aromas of sweet cherries, berries, spices and creamy new oak introduce the 2021 Villemaurine, a medium to full-bodied, velvety and layered wine that's vibrant and nicely concentrated, with a layered core of lively fruit framed by fine, powdery tannins. Tasted three times, this is one wine that improved appreciably over the course of the three weeks I spent in Bordeaux."

DECANTER: "Nice mix of blackcurrants, dark chocolate and perfume on the nose, smells really lovely. Delicate and quite poised on the palate - this is juicy and fun. Really quite lively fruit with great acidity, touching on mouthwatering, that doesn't stick out but works to maintain balance and vibrancy. Quite joyful to drink, approachable and well balanced and you feel like the extraction and oak has worked really well here. Stylish. "

JAMES SUCKLING: "A medium-bodied red with plums, light chocolate, walnuts and berries. Firm and juicy. A little hard on the finish, but should soften with barrel aging."

JEB DUNNUCK: "Checking in as 92% Merlot and 8% Cabernet Franc resting in 70% new French oak, the 2021 Château Villemaurine is a more juicy, forward, pretty effort revealing lots of cassis-like fruit as well as notes of toasted spices, chalky mineral, and graphite. I love its balance, it has fine tannins, and just a pretty, satisfying style that will drink nicely right out of the gate."

THE WINE CELLAR INSIDER: "Medium-bodied, soft, silky and fresh, with a core of sweet, juicy, plums, chocolate-covered cherries, spice and coffee bean. Drink from 2023-2038."

FALSTAFF: "Dunkles Rubingranat, violette Reflexe, zarte Randaufhellung. Dunkle Beeren, ein Hauch von reifen Zwetschken, tabakige Nuancen. Mittlerer Körper, rote Kirschen, frisch strukturiert, etwas weitmaschig, zart salziger Nachhall, zitronig im Rückgeschmack."
