James Suckling: A fresh and vivid second wine of Nenin with aromas of sliced strawberries, cherries and some hazelnuts. Medium-bodied with fine, integrated tannins and a juicy finish. 91% merlot and 9% cabernet franc."

Falstaff: Tiefdunkles Rubingranat, violette Reflexe, zarte Randaufhellung. Frische schwarze Kirschen, Brombeeren, Lakritze, kandierte Orangenzesten.

Jeb Dunnuck: A Merlot-dominant blend of 91% Merlot and 9% Cabernet Franc that's being raised in 5% new barrels, the 2025 Fugue De Nénin is a juicy, forward, and delicious second wine of Nénin. Black cherries, smoky chocolate, and ripe herb nuances define the nose, and on the palate, it's medium-bodied, round, and supple, with a nicely textured mouthfeel and soft tannins. It checks in at 13.5% alcohol with a pH of 3.6. This was the first year that they used a bain densimétrique (density-based sorting) as well as an optical sorter, and I think it shows in the finesse of the tannins."

Wine Advocate: Offering up notes of rose petals, sweet raspberries and plums, the 2025 Fugue de Nenin is medium-bodied, ample and fleshy, with bright acids and youthfully firm tannins."

Decanter: Blackcurrant leaf, tobacco and some cedar aromas with creamy vanilla scents. Soft and juicy, really supple and lithe, almost tart but not overly so. A light, crisp style with focus on the cool blue fruit and liquorice edges. Nice crunchy blue and red berry fruit with mouthwatering acidity but not overly complicated or trying too hard. Nenin received a lot of rain in the spring (130mm in April) which allowed the vines to go through the first heatwave at the end of June with ease. Some deleafing and vines trimmed to avoid evapotranspiration. The challenge here was to remove overripe berries but the team used the density machine from Potensac for sorting. A small yield of 21hl/ha."

Lisa Perrotti-Brown: Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2025 Fugue de Nénin offers up notes of ripe plums and black cherry compote, plus hints of tar, tilled soil, and sandalwood. The medium-bodied palate delivers compelling freshness with juicy black fruit and a lively line, framed by soft tannins, finishing spicy. The blend is 91% Merlot and 9% Cabernet Franc. It has a pH of 3.6 and the alcohol is 13.5%. The wine is aging for 10 months in French barriques, 5% new."

The Wine Cellar Insider: Bright, fresh, fruity, forward, medium-bodied, and already approachable, you can enjoy this on release and for at least a decade after that. Drink from 2028-2035."
