Chateau Le Gay 2025

Jeb Dunnuck: Cassis, exotic red and blue fruits, spring flowers, graphite, and some chocolaty nuances all emerge from the 2025 Château Le Gay, a beautiful Pomerol based on 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc that will spend 14 months in new barrels. Medium to full-bodied on the palate, it has a pure, graceful mouthfeel, ultra-fine tannins, and a great finish. It might be one of the finest vintages of this cuvée I've tasted, so hats off to the team here."

Vinum: Tiefgründig, komplex, Cassis, schwarze Kirschen, Pflaumen, Earl Grey Tee; gradlinig am Gaumen, kompakt, fokussiert, sehr gut strukturiert, engmaschiges Tannin, delikater, süsser Fruchtkern, das Holz perfekt verpackt, rassig, salin, langanhaltend. Ein ausgezeichneter Pomerol, der seine ganze Finesse erst mit etwas Kellerreife offenbaren wird."

Falstaff: Tiefdunkles Rubingranat, opaker Kern, violette Reflexe, dezente Randaufhellung. Florale Nuancen nach Veilchen und Hibiskus, rotes Waldbeerkonfit, einladendes Bukett. Saftig, elegant, rotes Beerenkonfit, balanciert, reife Tannine, gute Frische, bleibt haften, sicheres Entwicklungspotenzial."

The Wine Cellar Insider: Flowers, truffles, licorice, cherries, chocolate, and espresso are working together to create the perfume. On the palate, the wine is rich, concentrated, deep, dark, and creamy. The finish delivers layers of plums, dark chocolate, spice, espresso, and fresh, vibrant black cherries that last. Drink from 2030-2055."

James Suckling: A tight and polished red with delicacy and finesse I have not seen often. It’s medium-bodied with freshness and brightness. Fine tannins."

Decanter: Aromatic and pure, this has much less obvious oak than usual with a focus on the purity of the blackcurrant and plum fruit. Excellent elegance and poise - still muscular with cedar, tobacco and liquorice elements but the fruit really shines. Plenty of push with a grippy finish. Strong but yummy."

Lisa Perrotti-Brown: Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2025 Le Gay sashays out of the glass with flamboyant notes of stewed black cherries and preserved plums, giving way to nuances of dried roses, underbrush, and crushed rocks. The full-bodied palate delivers mineral-laced black fruit preserves flavors with floral accents and plenty of freshness and plush tannins, finishing fragrant."

Jane Anson: Cloves, white pepper, blueberry fruits, damson and cocoa bean, plenty of gourmet touches, lavender, rose stem, just skirting full ripeness, but with a lovely juicy finish. Harvest September 2 to 11. 19.5 hl/ha. 100% new oak."
