The Wine Cellar Insider: Cinnamon, smoke, flowers, licorice, and dark-pit fruits blend together to create the aromatics. The palate is fresh and fleshy, allowing you to enjoy all the layers of sweet cherries, plums, and spice that fill your palate, along with the touch of minerality that you discover at the end of the finish. The wine blends 75% Merlot, 22% Cabernet Franc, and 3% Malbec. Drink from 2028-2047."

Jane Anson: Gunsmoke, campfire, brambled fruits, limestone fingerprint with plenty of pumice stone and crushed oyster shell. This is well balanced, if showing the freshness of the vintage on these St Emilion soils. Harvest September 10 to 19. 30% new oak. Yield 29 hl/ha. 3.6 pH"

Decanter: Pleasing fruit-driven aromas including high toned plum, raspberry and blackberry. The palate is juicy and tangy, the acidity coming to the fore but thankfully complemented by ripe fruit. The balance is reflected in the numbers, with about 13.75% alcohol and a pH level of 3.6, a combination of richness and tanginess, no doubt due to the influence ofageing in 20% amphorae. The 30% new oak is nicely integrated. Medium finish. I wonder if a bit more new oak would give the wine a touch more body, in this case."

Jeb Dunnuck: A regal, elegant wine, the 2025 Château La Confession sports a deep ruby/purple hue as well as a pretty nose of violets, black raspberries, and blue fruits. Based on 75% Merlot, 22% Cabernet Franc, and 3% Malbec, it's medium-bodied on the palate, with a focused, elegant mouthfeel, nicely integrated acidity and tannins, and beautiful overall balance."
