Jeb Dunnuck: A seriously good Saint-Estèphe in the making, the 2025 Château De Pez opens with rocking aromatics of cassis, attractive red fruit, flowers, and chocolate. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied and round, with a beautifully layered mouthfeel, ripe tannins, and a great, great finish. This is one hell of an impressive barrel sample."

James Suckling: A firm and juicy red with aromas of berries, chocolate and a touch of hazelnuts. It’s medium-bodied and rather linear, with some softness to it and savoriness at the end. 56% cabernet sauvignon, 42% merlot and 2% cabernet franc."

Jane Anson: Plenty of density and silky tannins, with cassis, cappuccino and cocoa beans, high freshness but with real juice and flavour behind. 3.6ph. 8% of press wine. Frederic Rouzaud's father bought this in 1995, and the estate then underwent 20 years of replanting, increasing the Cabernet Sauvignon in the vineyard. The results are clear. 80% 225l oak and 20% foudres, 50% new oak, 3.6pH. 50% new oak. Harvest September 3 to 23."

Vinum: Verführerischer Frucht, noble Röstnoten, dunkle Frucht, Kirschen, Veilchen weisser Pfeffer; cremiger Auftakt, weich, rund, finessenreich und sehr charmant, man möchte gleich schlucken; langer, feinwürziger Abgang. Der vielleicht geschliffenste de Pez, den ich je verkosten konnte."

Decanter: Blood orange and crunchy red berries on the nose. Dark, muscular and woody on the palate (a classic Saint-Estèphe!), quite tight and underdeveloped at the moment, but the quality of the tannins is exceptional. Spicy and peppery finish, good length. Still a baby but with great potential."

Falstaff: Tiefdunkles Rubingranat, opaker Kern, violette Reflexe, zarte Randaufhellung. Floraler Touch, rotbeerige Nuancen, ein Hauch von Lakritze, schwarze Beerenfrucht unterlegt. Mittlere Komplexität, rote Herzkirschen, frisch strukturiert, reife Tannine, mineralisch, salziger Nachhall."

The Wine Cellar Insider: Licorice, currants, blackberries, flowers, tobacco, mint, and a drop of espresso open the nose. The medium-bodied, soft, round-textured, lively wine delivers its fruits, and touch of crushed stones on the back end with ease. The wine blends 56% Cabernet 42% Merlot, and 2% Cabernet Franc. 13% ABV. Drink from 2029-2045."

Lisa Perrotti-Brown: Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2025 de Pez leaps with vibrant notes of black currants and black raspberries, giving way to hints of crushed rocks, black olives, and lavender oil. The light- to medium-bodied palate is tight-knit and bright with pure black berry flavors and firm, grainy tannins, finishing long and lively. The blend is 56% Cabernet Sauvignon, 42% Merlot, and 2% Cabernet Franc. It has a pH of 3.6 with a TPI of 72 and the alcohol is 13%."
