James Suckling: Fresh and bright, with aromas of sliced oranges, dark berries and cedar that follow through to a medium body with fine tannins and a crisp and bright finish."

Decanter: Gorgeous deep and juicy plum and blackberry aromas with subtle spice: a superlative aromatic expression. The best expression I recall from this estate en primeur, hats off for the spice, the velvety tannins, and the balance. A wine that is thirst quenching insofar as you have depth but also lots of tension and energy. Cooler clay soils certainly played a role in the success as did the judicious tannin extractions, with integrated tannins from the 35% new oak."

Wine Advocate: Offering up notes of ripe cherries and cassis framed by toasty oak, the 2025 Couvent des Jacobins is medium- to full-bodied, rich and dense, with a concentrated core of fruit, plenty of structuring tannin and lively balancing acids. It's another strong performance for this 10.5-hectare Saint-Émilion property."

Jeb Dunnuck: A rich, textured Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé, the 2025 Couvent Des Jacobins is based on 82% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Franc, and 6% Petit Verdot that's being raised in 35% new barrels with the balance in one-year-old oak. Its dense, saturated purple hue is followed by a complex nose of ripe black fruits, plums, smoky herbs, and scorched earth. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, balanced, and has more flesh than many in the vintage, with ripe tannins and terrific overall texture. Checking in at 14% alcohol with a pH of 3.7, this is a successful 2025 that should drink nicely with just short-term cellaring. Tasted multiple times with consistent notes."

Falstaff: Dunkles Rubingranat, opaker Kern, violette Reflexe, dezente Randaufhellung.

Lisa Perrotti-Brown: Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2025 Couvent des Jacobins jumps from the glass with exuberant notes of fresh blackberries and black plums, followed by suggestions of peonies, black pepper, and black olives with a waft of tar. The medium- to full-bodied palate is chock-full of black fruit flavors with savory undertones and plush tannins, finishing with a refreshing lift. The blend is 82% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Franc, and 6% Petit Verdot. The alcohol is 14%."

The Wine Cellar Insider: Flowers, black cherries, plums, espresso, and licorice nuances create the aromatics. The medium-bodied palate is elegant, fresh, sweet, fruity, and vibrant, so you can enjoy all of its luscious, rich, polished fruits, with their chocolate accent on release and for 15-20 years after that. Drink from 2028-2050."
