James Suckling: A firmness and length to this red, with blackberries and spice such as cinnamon on the nose and palate. It's medium-bodied with silky tannins and a vivid finish. 67% merlot, 31% cabernet sauvignon and 2% cabernet franc."

Jane Anson: High floral aromatics, vivid and vibrant plum colour, this is a very charming and well constructed wine. The personality of Marquis has changed a little over the past few years in the best way, this is juicy, feels more old school in its tannic structure than exuberant vintages like 2022, with far more vibrant fruit than 2024, closer to 2023 in style here, a huge plus for me. 20% new oak. 3.5 pH. Yield 35 hl/ha. Harvest September 4 to 20."

Wine Advocate: The 2025 Le Marquis de Calon-Ségur is a blend of 67% Merlot, 31% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Cabernet Franc. Wafting from the glass with notes of blackberries, cassis and iris, it's medium- to full-bodied, deep and concentrated, with supple tannins, lively acids and a penetrating finish."

Decanter: Blackcurrants and milk chocolate with fragranced violets and roses on the nose. Supple and softly plump in the mouth with generous tannins that fill the mouth with juicy red berry fruits before slate, graphite and wet stone minerality come in and straighten out the finish. A lovely combination of elements here - excellent acidity and a real sense of energy and focus with a precise liquorice and cola grip on the finish. Great stuff and this wine comes across very well this year. More Merlot than usual in the blend this year. 35% second wine."

Lisa Perrotti-Brown: Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2025 Le Marquis de Calon Ségur scoots out of the glass with eager-to-please scents of juicy blackberries and black raspberries, leading to touches of roses, pencil shavings, and dusty soil. The medium- to full-bodied palate delivers a racy line and lightly chewy tannins to match the bright black berry layers, finishing savory. The blend is 67% Merlot, 31% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 2% Cabernet Franc. It has a pH of 3.5 and the alcohol is 14.1%. The wine is aging for 17 months in French barriques, 20% new."
