JAMES SUCKLING: "What a bright, racy wine showing beautiful chalky tannins and mid-palate fruit of good density. Minerally, with blue and red fruit. Taut on the palate, with a medium to full body supported by tense, chalky tannins. The long and really succulent finish goes on for a while. Precise. 84% merlot, 15% cabernet franc and 1% cabernet sauvignon."

WEINWISSER: "84 % Merlot, 15 % Cabernet Franc, 1 % Cabernet Sauvignon, 42 hl/ha. Verführerisches Bouquet, frischgepresster Schattenmorellensaft, zarter Mentholduft, vermischt mit Flieder- und Irisduft. Am komplexen, straffen Gaumen mit seidiger Textur, mineralischem Kern, engmaschigem Tanningerüst, balancierter Rasse, trainiertem Körper. Im konzentrierten, vibrierenden Finale rote Beeren, spürbare Mineralik und feinkörnige Adstringenz."

ANSON: "Up on the limestone plateau of St Emilion, the whole game in 2024 has been how to handle the austerity without rendering things too tight. Here they have got the balance right - delicate, sappy, drawn out, vivid blackberry and cassis fruits with hidden density, nothing overt but plenty of power and grip. 3.3ph, harvest 3 to 8 October. 42 hl/ha, touch of saignée. Harvesting entirely in October, from 3 to 8, Stéphane Derenoncourt consultant with Nicolas Thienpont."

DECANTER: "Radiant and really lively red berry fruits - a touch of cranberry and just-ripe strawberry with really clean, straight acidity that gives this lift but also some tension. Well built, tannins are integrated and this is just all about the fruit with some mineral aspects around the sides. Juicy, lively, fun, fresh and joyous. Not plush but textured enough. Will need a bit of time to soften but this is characterful and full of personality. 3.3pH. A yield of 42hl/ha."

FALSTAFF: "Dunkles Rubingranat, violette Reflexe, dezente Randaufhellung. Vanille und Lakritze, feine Holzwürze, ein Hauch von Schwarzen Ribiseln, attraktives Bukett. Komplex, saftige Kirschfrucht, frisch strukturiert, rotbeerige Nuancen, bleibt gut haften, ein attraktiver Speisenbegleiter mit Entwicklungspotenzial."

LISA PERROTTI-BROWN: "Deep garnet-purple colored. After a swirl or two, notes of raspberry coulis, kirsch, and Chinese five spice sail out of the glass, giving way to fragrant hints of dried roses, sandalwood, and pipe tobacco. The light to medium-bodied palate delivers electric intensity with great tension and fine-grained tannins to balance, finishing long and perfumed. Very pretty!"

JEB DUNNUCK: "Incorporating slightly less Cabernet Franc than usual, the 2024 Château Pavie Macquin checks in as 84% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc, and 1% Cabernet Sauvignon, resting in 40% new barrels, with 10% in larger barrels. It has a classic Pavie Macquin nose of dark cherries, cassis, graphite, and spring flowers, with a subtle, cooler-toned edge that always seems to come through from this terroir. This carries to a medium-bodied Saint-Émilion with a focused, nicely structured, balanced mouthfeel, ripe tannins, and juicy acidity that carries through the finish. It's a beautiful, vibrant 2024 and one of the few in the vintage that's going to really benefit from bottle age. Tasted multiple times with consistent results."

THE WINE CELLAR INSIDER: "Black raspberries, licorice, espresso, cherries, and plums already leap from the nose. There is purity, elegance, and lift to all the red fruits in the aroma and on the palate. The finish is juicy, crisp, and vibrant, with a vivid aftertaste. The wine blends 84% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc, and 1% Cabernet Sauvignon. 13% ABV, 3.35 pH. The harvest took place October 3 - October 8. Drink from 2029-2044."
