Chateau Fontenil 2024

Jeb Dunnuck: "Red and black fruits, graphite, leafy tobacco, and violet notes all emerge from the 2024 Château Fontenil, a medium-bodied Fronsac that has a pure, layered, elegant mouthfeel, silky tannins, and an undeniable sense of minerality on the finish. It's another beautifully made, seamless wine from this estate."

The Wine Cellar Insider: "Chocolate, licorice, and black cherries with hints of flowers are found in the nose. The palate is vibrant, fresh, and fruity, with loads of salt-edged black cherries, black raspberries, and soft, supple textures. This is quite a success for the vintage. The wine is produced from 100% Merlot. Drink from 2027-2038."

Jane Anson: "Inky colour with a softly spoken oak wash on the aromatics, blueberry and raspberry fruit, measured oak, good quality, austere on the finish but with juice. Harvest 7 to 10 October. 19hl/ha. 30% new oak. Dany and Michel Rolland home estate."

Lisa Perrotti-Brown: "Deep garnet-purple in color. Waltzes out with showy notes of baked plums and black cherry preserves, followed by hints of tilled soil, bay leaves, and fallen leaves. The light to medium-bodied palate is soft and refreshing with savory flavors and a peppery finish."

James Suckling: "A fruity and mellow Fronsac, showing notes of sweet cherries and ripe plums. Medium-bodied with fine tannins. Juicy and fruity. Playful finish with some length."

Falstaff: "Dunkles Rubingranat, violette Reflexe, zarte Randaufhellung. Feine dunkle Waldbeerfrucht, etwas Nougat, Brombeerkonfit, kandierte Orangenzesten. Rotbeerig, frische Kirschen, präsente Tannine, mineralisch und anhaftend, wird von Reife profitieren."
