VINUM: "Ungemein tiefgründig und einmal mehr von grosser Klasse, florale Noten über dunkler Frucht, zitrische Noten, Kräuter, feuchter Stein, Herbstlaub; dichter Gaumen, konzentriert, mit grosser Eleganz, sensationelle Tanninqualität, energetisch, grandioser Spannungsbogen, im Abgang fast nicht enden wollend. Ein perfekt orchestrierter Wein, für eine kleine Ewigkeit gebaut."

WEINWISSER: "Sehr tiefgründiges Bouquet, zarte schwarzbeerige Konturen, Oliven und dunkles Graphit. Im zweiten Ansatz feines Veilchenparfüm, Schokopastille, heller Tabak und Holundersaft. Am komplexen vielschichtigen Gaumen mit seidiger Textur, engmaschigem Tanninkorsett, stützender Rasse, edlem mineralischem Kern und trainiertem Körper. Im konzentrierten, nicht enden wollenden Finale tiefschürfende Mineralik, Cassiswürze und erhabene Adstringenz. Ein Pomerol-Monolith, der seine Fans nicht enttäuschen wird."

THE WINE CELLAR INSIDER: "The essence of violets, roses, black cherries, black raspberries, spice, smoke, espresso, chocolate, and licorice nuances provide the aromatic profile. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, rich, supple, creamy, vibrant. There is lift, intensity, length, and sensuality, with silky tannins. The fruits are ripe, deep, and penetrating. The berries come in layers, that build in intensity, as they linger. The seamless finish remains with you for over 50 seconds! Edouard Moueix feels 2023 provides the essence of each parcels terroir. However, he was not always sure about the vintage. In fact, it took until harvest time before he slowly became confident of the quality here. The wine is produced from 100% Merlot. 14.5% ABV, 3.85 pH. The harvest took place September 7 - September 19. Drink from 2029-2060."

JAMES SUCKLING: "The focus and polish are so enticing, reminding me of a seamless piece of the finest cashmere. Medium to full body with blackberry, tapenade and dark-chocolate character. A hint of salt at the end. 100% merlot."

LISA PERROTTI-BROWN: "The 2023 Trotanoy, 100% Merlot, is deep garnet-purple in color. It needs a lot of swirling and shaking to wake up notes of plum preserves, blackberry pie, and wild blueberries giving way to an undercurrent of wet slate, black truffle, and chargrill with a waft of wood smoke. The medium to full-bodied palate is dense with black fruit and earthy/mineral-inspired flavors, with a firm grainy texture and beautifully knit freshness, finishing long and savory. This is classic, great Trotanoy!"

THE WINE ADVOCATE: "The 2023 Trotanoy is showing brilliantly, wafting from the glass with aromas of dark berries, rose petals, baking chocolate, spices and pencil shavings, followed by a medium to full-bodied, layered and elegantly muscular palate that's rich, dense and powerful, while remaining unusually sensual and harmonious for the standards of an estate that can sometimes produce hulking, monolithic wines. Concentrated and penetrating, it's an especially strong performer this year."

JEB DUNNUCK: "Always one of the more structured, masculine wines in a vintage, the 2023 Château Trotanoy is all Merlot coming from 7.2 hectares of vines on harder, clay soils. Darker plum/ruby-hued, with a gorgeous mix of red, blue, and black fruits, it has ample spicy, iron, and graphite nuances, medium to full body, a firm, focused, concentrated mouthfeel, and enough ripe tannins to warrant bottle age. It plays in the more linear, focused style of the vintage, yet this brings considerable structure and depth and is going to warrant 5-7 years of bottle age. It has the classic Trotanoy-like bloody, salty, iron character that I simply love."

FALSTAFF: "Tiefdunkles Rubingranat, tiefer Kern, violette Reflexe, dezente Randaufhellung. Feine Edelholzwürze, reife Kirschen, ein Hauch von Brombeerkonfit, Nuancen von frischen Kräutern, kandierte Orangenzesten, floraler Touch von kandierten Veilchen. Komplex, elegant und saftig, seidige, reife Tannine, feine Extraktsüße im Abgang, lange anhaftend, harmonisch, mit sicherem Entwicklungspotenzial ausgestattet."

DECANTER: "Dark fragrance, really perfumed and almost exotic on the nose, lively and expressive, rich and opulent on the aromatic spectrum. Smells fresh and clean with cool blue fruit. Tight and compact tannins really set the stage with acidity that doesn't quite match right now. I do like the cranberry and cherry notes but it’s a touch severe and doesn't have as much charm as many at this stage. However, this is built to last with power and great substance, full and filling, just impenetrable right now. Enjoyable cool aspects on the finish. Will be great to re-taste after ageing with an upscore possible."

JANCIS ROBINSON: "Dark-fruit aromas. Full and solidly built, the tannins firm and persistent giving a dynamic of power on the finish. Long. Drink 2032 – 2048"
