JAMES SUCKLING: "A spicy and juicy red with a tight center-palate, medium body, creamy tannins and a savory finish. Vivid and focused. Shows finesse."

FALSTAFF: "Tiefdunkles Rubingranat, opaker Kern, violette Reflexe, zarte Randaufhellung. Zarte Röstaromen, Cassis, etwas Lakritze, einladendes Bukett. Mittlerer Körper, reife Kirschen, runde Tannine, frisch und anhaftend, ein lebendiger Speisenbegleiter, feine Süße im Nachhall, gutes Entwicklungspotenzial."

JEB DUNNUCK: "Lots of smoky red and black fruits, leafy tobacco, minty herbs, and some crushed stone-like minerality all define the 2023 Château Ormes De Pez, a rich, medium to full-bodied, concentrated 2023 that has plenty of tannins, nicely integrated acidity, and a great finish. It's a beautiful, seriously good wine from this château that will need short-term bottle age to show at its best."

VINUM: "Verführerischer Duft, parfümiert, frisch, dunkelfruchtig und ungemein cremig am Gaumen. Was für ein Charmeur! Feinstes Tannin, sehr gute Länge. Ein hervorragend gelungener Ormes de Pez."

DECANTER: "Some nice aromatics, not massively expressive. Blackcurrant, plum and cranberry - all crisp fruit aspects. A little tart and high toned, but there’s such ripeness too so you get high acidity with quite concentration that give a wide mouthfeel and under it all there’s freshness and a cool mint tone. Lots going on with a steely core too. Not quite harmonised but will be lovely. 7% press wine. 6% Petit Verdot completes the blend."

WEINWISSER: "55 % Merlot, 34 % Cabernet Sauvignon, 6 % Cabernet Franc, 5 % Petit Verdot. Offenes Bouquet, Schattenmorellensaft, Fliederduft und Cassiswürze. Am straffen Gaumen mit weicher Textur, engmaschigem verlangendem Tanninkorsett, geradlinigem Körper, feinspröde werdend. Im gebündelten Finale Pflaumenhaut, dunkles Graphit und feinmürbe Adstringenz."

THE WINE CELLAR INSIDER: "Cedar, mint, tobacco and currants come to the front of the wine with ease. The medium-bodied palate is soft, chewy, and fresh, with a peppery edge to the red cherries, and currants in the finish. Give it a year or two in the bottle, and this should be quite nice. The wine is a blend of 55% Merlot, 34% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Petit Verdot. 13.5% ABV. Drink from 2027-2042."

THE WINE ADVOCATE: "Aromas of dark berries, cassis and creamy new oak introduce the 2023 Ormes de Pez, a medium-bodied, rich and creamy wine with a lively core of fruit and sweet structuring tannins. At 55%, Merlot dominates the blend."
