JAMES SUCKLING: "This has a very deep and beautiful palate with cherries, chocolate, hazelnut and orange peel. Pretty blackcurrants and blue berries, too. Medium body. The finish has gorgeous al-dente fruit at the end and is always subtle. Open tannins. A blend of 58% cabernet sauvignon, 37% merlot, and 5% petit verdot."

THE WINE ADVOCATE: "One of the most suave, classy vintages from this estate in some years, the 2023 Malescot St. Exupery is a blend of 58% Cabernet Sauvignon, 37% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot. Wafting from the glass with aromas of cherries, berries, licorice and pencil shavings, it's medium to full-bodied, fleshy and succulent, with good depth at the core, supple tannins and a harmonious, integrated profile. Part of the blend is maturing in foudre."

VINUM: "Himmlisch-floraler Duft, dazu Cassis und Himbeere; straff und strukturiert, knackige Frucht, feine, markante Gerbstoffe, zeigt Trinkfluss und Länge. Einmal mehr ausgezeichnet gelungen."

DECANTER: "Here we have a wine that succeeds with aromatic refinement, including white flower, crushed herbs, blackberry, plum, cassis and raspberry with hints of fine dark chocolate. Quite nice indeed. Now, the palate does have an initially tight and structured feel, highlighted by high-toned, crisp fruit, but then comes the seashell fresh finish, which grew on me, with a veritably appealing drinkability aspect. Potential for a higher score once barrel ageing takes its course."

THE WINE CELLAR INSIDER: "Black cherries, blackberries, licorice, chocolate, and flowers create an opulent, deep, dark, styled wine. The fruits are ripe, soft, polished, sweet, clean, and pure. There is weight, with ample lift, making it fresh, as well as fruity. he amount of new. French oak for the aging has been reduced from 80% to 60%, which has added more complexity to the wine. The wine is a blend of 58% Cabernet Sauvignon, 37% Merlot, and 5% Petit Verdot. 14% ABV. Harvesting took place September 19-October 10. Drink from 2029-2055."

JEB DUNNUCK: "Rocking red and black fruits, spicy wood, savory herbs, and sandalwood notes all define the 2023 Château Malescot Saint Exupéry, and it's medium-bodied, supple, and elegant on the palate, with beautiful tannins. It's another impressively textured, balanced Margaux in the vintage that has ample charm and character."

FALSTAFF: "Dunkles Rubingranat, violette Reflexe. zarte Randaufhellung. Zarte tabakig, reife Herzkirschfrucht, zart nach Preiselbeeren, floraler Touch, kandierte Orangenzesten. Kraftvoll, dunkle Beerenfrucht, präsente Tannine, dezente Süße im Abgang, Nugat im Abgang, salziger Nachhall, gutes Reifepotenzial."

LISA PERROTTI-BROWN: "The 2023 Malescot St. Exupery is medium to deep garnet-purple in color. It offers up classic scents of blackcurrants, kirsch, and pencil shavings followed by nuances of crushed rocks and cardamom. The medium-bodied palate delivers a firm frame of grainy tannins and well-knit freshness to support the taut black fruit, finishing long with a minerally lift."
