JAMES SUCKLING: "The chalky character in this wine is really pretty, with blackberry and blueberry undertones. Hints of violets, too. Medium to full body. Crunchy finish. Solid core to this. Better than 2022?"

LISA PERROTTI-BROWN: "Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, the 2023 Lynsolence needs a fair bit of swirling to bring out notes of charcoal, dried bay leaves, and crushed rocks, opening out to notions of stewed plums and mulberries. Medium-bodied, the palate is nicely balanced with ripe, rounded tannins and bags of freshness supporting the pure blackberry flavors, finishing on a compelling floral note. This is made from 100% Merlot."

VINUM: "Mineralisch geprägte Nase, Kirsche, Brombeere, Blütentee; gradlinig und straff, saftige Frucht, markante Säure, feines Tannin, hat Energie und Rasse, wird gut reifen."

FALSTAFF: "Dunkles Rubingranat, violette Reflexe, dezente Randaufhellung. Frische Zwetschken, ein Hauch von Kirschen und Orangenzesten. Mittlerer Körper, zarte Fruchtsüße, elegant, Noten von Herzkirschen, reife Tannine, frischer Abgang, bleibt haften, rassig im Finale, ein frischer Speisenbegleiter mit Länge."

THE WINE CELLAR INSIDER: "Chocolate covered black cherries, licorice, truffle, and espresso pop in the perfume. The palate is lush, round, and polished, with a spicy edge to the layers of ripe, sweet, back with red pit fruits. 2023 is the first vintage produced without the previous owner, Denis Barraud who passed after making the 22s. Drink from 2026-2042."

THE WINE ADVOCATE: "A 100% Merlot, the 2023 Lynsolence reveals a deep, complex bouquet of dark wild berries, spices, plums and cherries, followed by a medium to full-bodied, enrobing and enveloping texture with chewy tannins and a long, elegant, dense finish. The style change enhances the expression of both terroir and grape variety, offering a clearer window into the unique characteristics of the wine."
