JAMES SUCKLING: "La Chenade has depth and layering with lots going on. Crunchy blackberry and raspberry fruit character and round tannins. 100% merlot. Better than 2022."

DECANTER: "Vividly fresh red berry fruit and agreable sweet notes of strawberry jam presage a palate of fine structure delivered in suave tannins. Cool clay soils proved excellent for the Merlots, which make up the entirety of the wine. While easy to drink already, the wine has enough structure for consumers to pack away in their Eurocaves, with an excellent longer term drinking window. With a pH of 3.72"

THE WINE ADVOCATE: "The 2023 La Chenade shows a dark, somber profile, evoking aromas of gentian, licorice, mulberries and violet. Medium-bodied with a layered and rich palate, it’s creamy and enrobing with velvety tannins and a long, firm finish. It was made entirely from Merlot grapes that are matured in new oak barrels, comprising 40% of the total."

JEB DUNNUCK: "All Merlot, the 2023 Château La Chenade has a gorgeous nose of darker fruits, plums, tobacco, and subtle damp earth-like notes. Tasting like a terrific Pomerol, this ripe, medium to full-bodied, voluptuous effort excels in the vintage."

THE WINE CELLAR INSIDER: "Sweet cherries, flowers, and chocolate show in the nose. On the palate, the wine is soft, elegant, silky, and fresh. The fruit is sweet, ripe, and pure, with vibrance, and a touch of cocoa in the finish. Produced from 100% Merlot, 14.3% ABV. Drink from 2026-2036."
