THE WINE CELLAR INSIDER: "Black plums, black raspberries, black cherries, flowers, and dark chocolate pop effortlessly in the perfume. On the palate the wine is luscious, vibrant, sensuous, and rich. There is a serious depth of flavor, good concentration, and length. The finish is as dark as the perfume with dark chocolate coated plums, black cherries, espresso, and licorice. There is a refreshing, floral mouth aromatic in the finish adding complexity, and freshness. With aging, this is going to be one of my favorite vintages of Hosanna. The wine blends 74% Merlot, with 26% Cabernet Franc. The harvest took place September 7-September 19. Drink from 2029-2055.

JEB DUNNUCK: "From more blue clay and iron-rich soils and based on 74% Merlot and 26% Cabernet Franc, the 2023 Château Hosanna ranks with the gems in the vintage and is a wine to seek out. Gorgeous crème de cassis, mulberries, spicy oak, graphite, and floral notes all define the aromatics, and it hits the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, a layered, seamless mouthfeel, ultra-fine tannins, and a great finish. The purity of fruit here is just about off the charts, and I love its overall balance and charm. It's going to be impossible to resist over the coming two decades."

Attraktive Kirschfrucht, zart nach Lakritze und Brombeeren, zart nach Gewürznelken, kandierte Orangenzesten, einladendes Bukett. Saftig, elegant, feine Süße, ein Hauch von Vanille und Karamell, runde Tannine, seidiger Stil, wird etwas früher zugänglich sein, vielversprechender Speisenwein ohne Ecken und Kanten."

DECANTER: "Milk chocolate, vanilla, violets, so much perfume and dark black bramble fruit on the nose. Rich, full, supple and juicy with a nice shot of not-too-high acidity, before the really quite present tannins take over and fill the mouth. Plush and ample, this is broad and fully shouldered, and in that respect maybe not as finessed and direct as some, but I like the structure. This will be delicious. Stylish and confident. I love the menthol, blackcurrant juice and fleshy tannins. Ends long and so cool and fresh. Great stuff."

LISA PERROTTI-BROWN: "The 2023 Hosanna is deep garnet-purple in color. Gregarious notes of boysenberry preserves, ripe plums, and wild blueberries jump from the glass, followed by hints of violets, dark chocolate, and camphor. The medium to full-bodied palate has impressive density and plushness, with lovely tension and a fragrant finish. The blend is 74% Merlot and 26% Cabernet Franc."
