WEINWISSER: "64 % Merlot, 34 % Cabernet Sauvignon, 2 % Cabernet Franc. Feingliedriges Bouquet, rotbeerige Konturen, Rosmarin, Nelken und heller Tabak. Am eleganten Gaumen mit geradliniger Ausrichtung, engmaschigem Tanningerüst, stützender Rasse, gute Spannung – ein seriöser Zweitwein. Im gebündelten Finale Preiselbeere, Eisenkraut und mehlige Adstringenz."

VINUM: "Reiffruchtig, Pflaumen, Schwarzkirschen, Gewürze; reichhaltig, rund, mit süsser Frucht, feinste Tannine, rund, lang im Abgang, endet auf dunkle Früchte und etwas Karamell. Hohes Niveau."

DECANTER: "Fragrant nose, really quite floral - rose, violets and peonies on the nose with raspberry and red cherry. Soft and suave, this has a silky elegance to it. Tannins are a little powdery, giving some structure, and just take over the fruit, bit this has ripe fruit and a minty, fresh undercurrent which keeps the lift all the way through. Plus this feels like it has depth. A great second wine, more body than some, a chew and soft sweetness that is nice. It’s a little light overall, but very Haut-Bailly esque, elegant with some wood spice, cedar and bitter liquorice on the finish. 3.75pH. Ageing 12 months, 30% new oak."

FALSTAFF: "Dunkles Rubingranat, violette Reflexe, zarte Randaufhellung. Reife Zwetschkenfrucht, ein Hauch von Dörrobst, ein Hauch von Veilchen, rote Herzkirschen, einladendes Bukett. Saftig, elegant, rund und süß, zartes Nugat, feine, zarte Tannine, die gut tragen, etwas Schokolade auch im Abgang, mineralischer Touch, bereits entwickelt, angenehme, fast burgundische Süße im Nachhall."

THE WINE CELLAR INSIDER: "Spicy blackberries, black cherries, tobacco and flowers are already expressive in the nose. On the medium-bodied palate, the wine is soft, forward, silky, and lively, with sweet, black cherries, and a hint of chocolate in the finish. This is perfect to enjoy while waiting for the Grand Vin to develop. The wine blends 64% Merlot, 34% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 2% Cabernet Franc. This is the second vintage incorporating the vines from Chateau Le Pape. Drink from 2027-2038."

THE WINE ADVOCATE: "Aromas of cassis, mulberries, violet and dark wild berries characterized this elegant, gourmand and fresh 2023 Haut-Bailly II. This is a blend of 64% Merlot, 34% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Cabernet Franc matured 30% in new oak and the rest in one- to two-year-old barrels."

Ripe black cherries, currants, tobacco, spice box, and floral notes all emerge on the nose, and it's beautifully balanced, medium-bodied, and elegant on the palate, with ripe, polished tannins."
