JAMES SUCKLING: "Very pure fruit here, showing blackberries and black cherries, as well as hints of walnuts. Medium body. The tannins are fine-grained and well integrated. I like the concentration on the center-palate and the freshness on the finish. It’s structured and long, with lively fruit and a hint of salt at the end. Minerally. 68% cabernet sauvignon, 28% merlot, 3.5% petit verdot and 0.5% cabernet franc. From biodynamically grown grapes with Demeter certification."

THE WINE ADVOCATE: "The 2023 Ferrière is a strong effort, bursting with aromas of dark berries, spices and boot polish, followed by a medium to full-bodied, fleshy and layered palate with a broad attack, good depth at the core and sweet structuring tannins. It's a blend of 68% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Merlot, 3.5% Petit Verdot and a touch of Cabernet Franc."

DECANTER: "Nice pretty fragrance on the nose, roses and violet with raspberries and scented red cherries. Lively and bright, almost searing, quite tart and high toned. Nice chalky tannins give depth and some weight, it’s not too tense or too lean, just the fruit is on the bright side. Straight and streamlined, maybe missing some extra Margaux plumpness and charm, but this is light and approachable. A touch austere but follows the vintage in this way. Long mineral edged finish with liquorice, dark chocolate, bitter toast and some cedar. Good energy. 0.5% Cabernet Franc completes the blend. 40hl/ha yield. 3.79pH."

JEB DUNNUCK: "Checking in as 61% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest mostly Merlot, raised in 40% new oak, the 2023 Château Ferriere is beautiful, with juicy red (and some blue) fruits as well as classic Margaux notes of spice, flowers, and leather. It's complex and medium-bodied, with a supple, layered, elegant texture, beautiful tannins, and a great finish."
