JAMES SUCKLING: "This is very long and tight with wonderful al-dente fruit, such as blackberry and orange peel. Fine tannins run the length of the wine, keeping it fresh and vivid at the end. 97% merlot and 3% cabernet franc."

DECANTER: "Gorgeously floral, juicy black fruit and damson aromas presage a classy, polished, fresh and juicy palate. A bit of tightening tannin on the finish, but of the sort that the 100% new oak ageing will soften, indeed the integration of the new oak is superb. Harvesters carefully picked the very best grapes in this small 1.2ha vineyard with blue clay and gravel soils between 15-21 September, and it shows. Only 3,600 bottles produced."

JEB DUNNUCK: "The 2023 Enclos Tourmaline is mostly Merlot with a small addition of Cabernet Franc and comes from a tiny 1.2-hectare parcel that was purchased by Peter Kwok in 2012. It's a gorgeous wine in the making, offering plnety of black raspberry and red plum-like fruit as well as ample floral, spicy, incense-like nuances. Medium to full-bodied, it shows the more mid-weight, juicy, elegant style of the vintage yet has a broad, expansive mouthfeel, beautiful tannins, and a great finish."
