JAMES SUCKLING: "Very pretty center-palate of ripe yet cool cabernet sauvignon fruit. Medium body, integrated tannins and a fresh finish. Solid and curated already."

THE WINE ADVOCATE: "A blend of 51% Merlot, 45% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Petit Verdot, the 2023 Couhins reveals a fresh, lively bouquet of raspberries, dark wild berries, mulberries and flowers, followed by a fleshy and ample palate with velvety tannins, a gourmand core of fruit and a long, delicate finish. Owned by INRAE (the French National Institute of Agricultural Research), this estate has steadily enhanced the quality of its wines over the years."

JEB DUNNUCK: "The 2023 Château Couhins is based on 51% Merlot, 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 4% Petit Verdot and it's still resting in one-third new French oak. Bright black cherries, leather, leafy herbs, and chocolate notes all define the bouquet, and it's medium-bodied on the palate, with firmer tannins, nicely integrated acidity, and solid overall mid-palate depth and concentration."

FALSTAFF: "Dunkles Rubingranat, violette Reflexe, zarte Randaufhellung. Frische Zwetschken, ein Hauch von Brombeerkonfit, feine Kräuterwürze, Orangenzesten sind unterlegt. Saftig, reife Herzkirschen, feine Tannin, gute Frische, balanciert, ein lebendiger Speisenbegleiter mit zartem Nugatfinale."

THE WINE CELLAR INSIDER: "Black cherries, chocolate, flowers, and espresso form the character here. The medium-bodied palate is round, chewy, and loaded with black cherries, peppery spice, dark chocolate, espresso, and crisp red currants. Bright, and chewy in the finish, give it a few years in the bottle and it promises to be even better. The wine blends 50% Merlot, 45% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Petit Verdot. 14 ABV. Drink from 2027-2039."
