JAMES SUCKLING: "This is juicy and tense on the palate, with lively fruit character and a hint of chocolate. Medium-bodied with polished tannins. Shows freshness, vibrancy and chewiness. It’s fleshy and succulent on the finish. Excellent potential for aging. 90% merlot and 10% cabernet franc. Tasted twice."

THE WINE ADVOCATE: "The 2023 Bourgneuf is an especially impressive effort that underlines this estate's proximity to Trotanoy (one block actually reaches the outbuildings of Trotanoy). Unwinding in the glass with aromas of mulberries, exotic spices, licorice, incense and lilac, it's medium to full-bodied, layered and textural, with a dense, creamy core of concentrated fruit framed by a serious chassis of sweet, powdery tannin. This is likely to number among the sleepers of the vintage."

WEINWISSER: "Dicht verwobenes Bouquet, frischgepflückte schwarze Johannisbeere, zarte Milchschokonoten, Waldhimbeergelee und zartes Veilchenparfüm. Am komplexen Gaumen mit seidiger Textur, salzigem Extrakt und engmaschigem Körper, präzise ausgerichtet. Im konzentrierten Finale Wildkirsche, tiefgründige Terroirwürze und feinmehlige Adstringenz."

VINUM: "Floral, expressiv, Veilchen, Sauerkirschen, Cassis; schlank im Auftakt, baut aus, feinkörniges Tannin, ungemein delikate Frucht, feinziseliert, frisch, lang und mit feiner Würze im Abgang. Sehr elegant!"

FALSTAFF: "Tiefdunkles Rubingranat, opaker Kern, violette Reflexe, dezente Randaufhellung. Zartes Brombeerkonfit, feine Kirschfrucht, zart nach Edelholz und kandierte Orangenzesten, attraktives Bukett. Mittlere Komplexität, rotbeerige Frucht, feine Tannine, salzige Mineralität, wirkt leichtfüßig, kräuterwürziger Nachhall."

JEB DUNNUCK: "Checking in as 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc from nine hectares of vines north of Trotanoy, the 2023 Château Bourgneuf has the vintage's upfront, juicy style as well as terrific purity in its red and black fruit notes, aromatics of spicy oak and leafy herb/floral nuances. It's balanced and has plenty of structure, medium body, and outstanding length."

DECANTER: "Highly floral and fragrant, really scented - almost evocative, ripe and opulent. Dark fruits give this a very Pomerol accent on the nose. Ripe and fresh, nice weight and texture with great juiciness too - clean and direct, lots of minerality and graphite which give a bit of austerity and tension."
