DECANTER: "Gorgeous floral and ripe fruit aromatics leap from the glass, leading to a palate of both juiciness and wet stone minimality. The excellent clay and limestone terroir from this three-hectare vineyard reveals refinement and elegance. The estate took time to carefully pick only the very best Merlots, and it shows in the glass. A wonderful wine in this vintage that proves how Merlot can be successful in 2023!"

THE WINE CELLAR INSIDER: "The wine pops with aromas of roses, violets, cherries, plum, and cocoa. Balanced between its racy, and elegant side, the wine is long, vibrant, clean, and pure, with silky, velvet-tannins, and a refined character in the finish that sticks with you. While the wine feels light on its feet, the finish really holds on, leaving you with vivid, sweet, red cherries that linger. The key to the wine here is the length of the harvest as they spent 3 weeks picking 3 hectares of vines! Produced from 100% old, vine Merlot, 14% ABV. Drink from 2027-2045."

JAMES SUCKLING: "A juicy and flavorful wine already. Medium-bodied and chewy, yet fresh. Lots of blackberry. It’s structured and fleshy considering the vintage. Pure merlot."

JEB DUNNUCK: "From vines just south of Angélus (just 3 hectares), the 2023 Château Bellevue is all Merlot raised in 50% new oak, with a small portion in foudre. It has a great nose of ripe red and black fruits, chocolaty oak, and graphite that gives way to more spice and savory flower notes with time in the glass. Medium-bodied and balanced, with terrific concentration (especially in the vintage), this balanced, textured, impressive 2023 is worth seeking out."
