FALSTAFF: "Tiefdunkles Rubingranat, opaker Kern, violette Reflexe, dezente Randaufhellung. Feine Nuancen von kandierten Veilchen, schwarze Kirschen, ein Hauch von Cassis und Lakritze, einladende Frucht, ein Hauch von Nugat, Komplex, saftig, kühle Beerenfrucht, feine Süße im Kern, seidige Tannine, frischer Säurebogen, mineralisch und anhaltend, ungemein attraktiv im Abgang, harmonisch und fein, großes Reifepotenzial."
WEINWISSER: "55 % Cabernet Sauvignon, 40 % Merlot, 5 % Petit Verdot. Betörendes blaubeeriges Bouquet, ein satter Strauß Veilchen, Iris und Flieder, dahinter Lakritze und schwarzer Johannisbeernektar. Am komplexen, durchtrainierten Gaumen mit seidiger Textur, balancierter Rasse und engmaschigem Tanninkorsett. Im konzentrierten Finale Wildkirsche, dunkle Mineralik und mehlige Adstringenz. Kann noch zulegen. 2030 – 2055."
JEB DUNNUCK: "The 2022 Château Malescot Saint Exupéry is gorgeous and certainly a Margaux worth seeking out. Dense purple-hued, with a rich, powerful bouquet of ripe black fruits, melted chocolate, smoked tobacco, and spice, it picks up a beautiful floral character with air, is full-bodied, and has a layered, opulent mouthfeel as well as a great finish. It shows the vintage's building yet velvety tannins and is going to warrant just 4-5 years or more of bottle age, but it's a brilliant wine in the making."
LISA PERROTTI-BROWN: „Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2022 Malescot St. Exupery comes barreling out of the glass with bold notions of black raspberries, blackcurrant jelly, and fresh, juicy plums, followed by wafts of violets, cinnamon stick, and forest floor. The medium to full-bodied palate is densely laden with black and red berry layers, framed by firm, fine-grained tannins and oodles of freshness, finishing long and perfumed. This is very pretty!"
THE WINE ADVOCATE: "Offering up aromas of rich blackberries, cassis, sweet spices, pencil shavings and creamy new oak, the 2022 Malescot St. Exupery is medium to full-bodied, rich and fleshy, with a broad attack that segues into a layered core of expressive fruit that's framed by sweet, powdery tannins. A blend of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot, this is one of the appellation's most flamboyant wines, but it retains good balance and boasts a healthy pH of 3.65."
DECANTER: "Intensely perfumed and fragrant on the nose, supple and succulent, really quite juicy and highly acidic with both a dark blackcurrant and red cherry juiciness, tannins are nicely present, filling but with a great texture and this has a nice overall brightness and vibrancy that some don't have. I really like this, feels elegant and nicely detailed, soft, really not trying too hard. Will be for easier drinking than some but nice. A yield of 30hl/ha. Harvest 19 September - 5 October. Ageing in French oak for 12- 14 months, 70% new."
THE WINE CELLAR INSIDER: "Black, blue and red fruits, tobacco leaf, flowers, and coffee bean, with a hint of cocoa create the nose. Lively red and black fruits, with hints of chocolate show in the round, full-bodied, deep wine. The lengthy finish is all about its layers of sweet, ripe, dark red berries, energy and chocolately, espresso in the mid-palate and end notes. The wine is a blend of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, and 5% Petit Verdot. 14.5% ABV, 3.65. Harvesting took place September 19 - October 5. Yields were 30 hectoliters per hectare. Drink from 2027-2050."
