Chateau Latour a Pomerol 2022

JAMES SUCKLING: "Already shows very classy aromas of black berries, currants and black olives. Violets and other dried flowers. Full-bodied yet tight and polished with a reserved and muscular form, with finesse at the same time. New 1982? Pure merlot."

WEINWISSER: "100 % Merlot. Verzauberndes Bouquet, ausladendes Veilchenparfüm, geröstete Himbeerkerne, heller Tabak und roter Johannisbeernektar. Am komplexen, muskulösen Gaumen mit seidiger Textur, präziser straffer Ausrichtung, engmaschigem Tanningerüst sowie edlem mineralischem Kern. Im konzentrierten, langanhaltenden Finale blaubeerige Konturen, dunkler Graphit und erhabene Adstringenz. Für mich so gut wie der 2019er und eine ganz klare Kaufempfehlung dieses Jahr! 2030 – 2050."

FALSTAFF: "Tiefdunkles Rubingranat, opaker Kern, violette Reflexe, dezente Randaufhellung. Feine Kräuterwürze, etwas zurückhaltendes Bukett, dunkle Waldbeeren und schwarze Kirschen sind unterlegt, zart nach Edelholz. Saftig, elegant, feine Extraktsüße, reife, seidige Tannine, elegant und lange anhaftend, mineralisch im Nachhall, großes Entwicklungspotenzial, ein wunderbar balancierter Speisenbegleiter."

DECANTER: "Gorgeous aromatic expression, lively and open, floral perfumed and richly fruited aromas. Clean, clear and crisp, a lovely purity to the fruit expression - detailed and direct, supple in terms of the energy but still quite lean and straight, tannins feel so well worked and polished - there's a sense of quiet charm and style here. Not super expansive yet, more serious and straight, but so precise and defined. Cool blue fruits, crisp mint, graphite and mouthwatering acidity all combine to give a quiet, but still powerful wine. A touch of tension keeps this from being overly friendly at this point but I like the style."

VINUM: "Interessante, komplexe Ausbauwürze; voller Ansatz, samtene Entwicklung über erstklassigem, feinkörnigem, rundem Tannin, grosszügig langes, fruchtiges Finale; herrlicher Wein, seinen Preis wert."

LISA PERROTTI-BROWN: „Deep garnet-purple in color 2022 Latour a Pomerol sashays out with graceful notes of raspberry coulis, chocolate covered cherries, and stewed plums, leading to wafts of forest floor, iron ore, and wild sage. The medium to full-bodied palate is elegantly played with graceful, ripe, rounded tannins and seamless freshness supporting the nuanced red and black fruits, finishing on a mineral note. This is made from 100% Merlot."

JEB DUNNUCK: "All Merlot from a small eight hectares of gravelly, clay soils, the 2022 Château Latour A Pomerol offers up a vivid purple hue as well as beautiful aromatics of ripe black cherries, blackberries, chocolaty herbs, and loamy earth. It's medium to full-bodied, has plenty of concentration, building, ripe tannins, and a great finish."
