A little subdued to begin, it needs some swirling to coax out notes of black cherries and blackberry preserves, plus hints of violets, cinnamon toast, and garrigue. The medium to full-bodied palate is rich and seductive, with plush tannins and a long, spicy finish. This is very pretty!"

I like its overall balance, and it has terrific purity of fruit as well as outstanding length. I think just 4-5 years of cellaring will be warranted, but this is rock-solid."

DECANTER: "A serious and bold wine from the start with the clear acidity quickly replaced by firm tannins and sticky liquorice that gives a gourmet feel and puts the power and concentration of the vintage at the fore. Keeps a linear structure though, it doesn't feel too heavy in terms of tannic weight, just rich and opulent in the fruit profile. Loses a touch of energy and spark on the finish but this has nice elements with plenty of muscles and acidity to see it through. Harvest 15-29 September, ageing 14 months 55% new French oak barrels, 35% stainless steel, 10% amphora. Jean-Philippe Fort consultant."
