JAMES SUCKLING: "Lots of black olive, currant and orange peel aromas that follow through to a medium to full body with firm and polished tannins, which are fine and focused. Chewy. Plenty of potential. Pure merlot."
FALSTAFF: "Tiefdunkles Rubingranat, violette Reflexe, dezente Randaufhellung. Feine florale Nuancen, Brombeerkonfitüre, frische schwarze Kirschen sind unterlegt, feine Kräuterwürze, einladendes Bukett. Straff, engmaschig, mineralisch, feine Waldbeeren, integrierter Säurebogen, salziger Touch im Abgang, ein finessenreicher Begleiter bei Tisch."
DECANTER: "Aromatic nose, flowers and purple fruit. Juicy and vibrant initially, a cool, blue fruit and mineral element with wet stone and minty edges. Quite an aerial, delicate style almost but still with an undertone of power and enough acidity to alleviate some of the seriousness. Feels well worked, not trying too hard with supple tannins, energy and toasted spice elements on the finish."
THE WINE ADVOCATE: "The 2022 Lafleur-Gazin unwinds in the glass with aromas of minty blackberries, cherries, petroleum jelly and licorice. Medium to full-bodied, supple and gourmand, its satiny attack segues into a rich but vibrant core of fleshy, perfumed fruit. Owned by the firm of J-P Mouiex since 2020, this is an estate in the ascendant."
LISA PERROTTI-BROWN: „Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2022 Lafleur-Gazin is a tad closed and grumpy to begin, needing some coaxing to bring out notes of baked black plums, boysenberries, and tar, followed by hints of licorice and allspice. The medium to full-bodied palate is laden with black fruit preserves and savory accents, framed by ripe, rounded tannins, finishing earthy. This is made from 100% Merlot."
2028 – 2043."
JEB DUNNUCK: "Lots of ripe red, blue, and black fruits, graphite, damp earth, leather, and spicy notes define the 2022 Château Lafleur-Gazin, a 100% Merlot Pomerol coming from a mix of gravelly, clay and silky soils. It's medium-bodied, has good balance, some silky, polished tannins, and a forward, charming style. It's not one of the gems in the vintage, but it should clearly be outstanding."
THE WINE CELLAR INSIDER: "With flowers, orange rind, cocoa, and plums in the nose, the wine is medium-bodied, forward, reserved, and classic with its textures and earthy, savory-edged, red pit fruit finish. The wine is produced from 100% Merlot. Drink from 2023-2037."
