DECANTER: "Sleek, straight and smooth - there's such a confidence about this all while giving a sense that it's not trying too hard. Nothing feels overdone, not too acidic or tannic or plush, just complete, round and nicely weighted on the palate with ripe red fruits and cooling minerality of liquorice, slate and pencil lead. Quite charming and seductive overall, deep but smooth and easy, much more so than some. Excellent definition and Pauillac strength while remaining calm and controlled. THE WINE CELLAR INSIDER: "Blackberries, black currants, cigar wrapper, mint, tobacco leaf, cocoa, flowers and espresso beans create the aromatic profile. The wine is even better on the richly-textured palate, with its layers of black cherries blackberries, currants and chewy tannins. The finish wraps everything up with a salty accent to the lingering, dark red fruits, espresso, spice, and hint of cocoa on the backend. The wine blends 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, 13.5% ABV. Drink from 2026-2048."

JAMES SUCKLING: "Very Pauillac with blackcurrant, blue berry, crushed stone and lavender character. Medium body. Fine tannins. Shows finesse with subtle character."

JEB DUNNUCK: "A consistent Pauillac, the 2022 Château Fonbadet has textbook notes of both red and black currants as well as freshly sharpened pencils, tobacco, and some subtle earthy nuances. It's balanced, medium to full-bodied, has ripe, supple tannins, and a great finish. You certainly wouldn't know it comes from an extremely hot, dry vintage by tasting it. There's enough structure here to warrant 4-6 years of bottle age, but it's an outstanding wine in the making."
