JAMES SUCKLING: "Crushed stone and blackberry character with some iodine. Medium to full body. Fine tannins and a umami finish. Impressive."
DECANTER: "Softly chewy and ripe, this has a nice core of juicy but also herbal-edged blackcurrant and black cherry on the palate with a stony, liquorice and clove spice edging the mouth giving a spiced and savoury touch. Despite the concentrated fruit the overall frame is lean, straight and focussed, direct and persistent with energy from the start to finish. Detailed, forward, bold, stylish. Will be easy to approach and very enjoyable. Tasted three times ranging in scores from 93-96. 3.6pH. HVE3 and bee friendly certified. Ageing 12-16 months, 60% new French oak barrels, 11% foudres, 10% stainless steel, 10% amphora and 10% one wine barrels. Harvest Merlot 8 September, Cabernet Franc 28 and Cabernet Sauvignon 29. Rolland & Associés consultants."
FALSTAFF: "Tiefdunkles Rubingranat, opaker Kern, violette Reflexe, zarte Randaufhellung. Feine rote Kirschfrucht, ein Hauch von Zwetschken, frische Orangenzesten, einladendes Bukett. Saftig, rotbeerige Nuancen, reife Kirschen, gute Frische, mineralisch und anhaftend, etwas Nugat im Nachhall, ein vielversprechender Speisenbegleiter."
LISA PERROTTI-BROWN: „The 2022 Dassault is deep garnet-purple in color. A little closed and broody to start off, it soon reveals notes of plum preserves, blueberry pie, and sassafras, followed by touches of charcuterie and star anise. The full-bodied palate delivers a racy backbone and firm, ripe, velvety tannins to support the generous black fruit preserves, finishing long and opulent."
JEB DUNNUCK: "Tasted on multiple occasions, the 2022 Château Dassault is a ripe, powerful effort revealing lots of ripe red, blue, and black fruits as well as floral and spicy nuances, nicely integrated background oak, medium to full body, and ripe, firmer tannins that should soften over the course of its élevage."
THE WINE CELLAR INSIDER: "Deeply colored, the wine is loaded with chocolate, espresso, cinnamon, flowers, and black cherries. The fruits are creamy, luscious, ripe, sweet, and vibrant with a chocolate edge to the berries in the finish. This is an outstanding vintage for Chateau Dassault! Drink from 2025-2042."
