JEB DUNNUCK: "I loved the 2022 Clos Du Marquis, which is a brilliant effort, if not the finest vintage of this cuv├ęe I've tasted. Cassis, graphite, and floral notes all define the bouquet, and it's full-bodied, with ultra-fine tannins and flawless balance. It shows the ripe, concentrated, powerful style of the vintage yet is incredibly pure and seamless, with everything in the right places. It's going to round into form with just a few years of bottle age but have decades of prime drinking."
FALSTAFF: "Tiefdunkles Rubingranat, opaker Kern, violette Reflexe, zarte Randaufhellung. Reife Pflaumen und s├╝├če Kirschen, Gew├╝rznelken, kandierte Orangenzesten, etwas Nougat, einladendes Bukett. Komplex, straff, feine Extrakts├╝├če, reife, tragende Tannine, mineralisch-salzig im Abgang, ein Hauch von Schokolade im Finish, sicheres Zukunftspotenzial."
JAMES SUCKLING: "Structured and fluffy with a blanket of fine tannins. Full-bodied yet agile and floating. Juicy at the end. Excellent finish. Lots of lead pencil and crushed stone at the end. 45.5% merlot, 44.5% cabernet sauvignon and 10% cabernet franc."
WEINWISSER: "45.5 % Merlot, 44.5 % Cabernet Sauvignon, 10 % Cabernet Franc, pH 3.7, 14.25 Vol.-%, 34 hl/ha, Presswein 7 %. Dicht verwobenes Bouquet, Wildkirsche, schwarze Olive, getrockneter Rosmarin, getrocknete K├╝chenkr├Ąuter und rotes Johannisbeergelee. Am komplexen, durchtrainierten Gaumen mit weicher Textur, k├Ârnigem Extrakt und engmaschigem Tanninkorsett. Im konzentrierten Finale ein Korb mit blauen Beeren, dunklem Graphit, Nelken, Wacholder und erhabener Adstringenz mit edler Bitternote. Selten habe ich diesen St. Julien so gut verkostet, kann noch zulegen. 2030 ÔÇô 2045."
THE WINE ADVOCATE: ""We've never seen such refined Cabernet Sauvignon at this property," says Jean-Hubert Delon of the 2022 Clos du Marquis, and the resulting wine is certainly unusually suave and expressive, bursting with aromas of cassis, plums, orange zest, violets and pencil shavings. Medium to full-bodied, ample and fleshy, with excellent concentration, supple tannins and a long, mouthwatering finish, it will likely offer a rather broad drinking window."
THE WINE CELLAR INSIDER: "Loaded with blackberries, and creme de cassis, the wine offers its layers of mouth-coating dark fruits, ripe, firm, soft tannins, and long, intense, mid-palate with no effort. Classified Growth in quality, the wine finishes with cool spearmint, lush, dark red berries, richness and length. The wine was made from a blend of 45.5% Merlot, 44.5% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 10% Cabernet Franc. 14.25% ABV. Drink from 2026-2042."
LISA PERROTTI-BROWN: ÔÇ×A blend of 45.5% Merlot, 44.5% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 10% Cabernet Franc, the 2022 Clos du Marquis has a deep garnet-purple color. It charges out of the gate with notes of cr├Ęme de cassis, plum preserves, and juicy blueberries, followed by wafts of dried roses, fertile loam, and unsmoked cigars. The medium-bodied palate has lovely freshness and fine-grained tannins framing the exuberant black fruits, finishing with a refreshing lift."
