Suckling: "This is a really serious white. Vibrant and tangy with fantastic energy. Plenty of lime zest, pineapple, crushed stone, cedar, anise and white lavender. Grapefruit, too. Medium body. So much tension at the end. Focused and precise and it just keeps on going. The pH is 3.04, yet it has intense ripeness. A masterpiece of sauvignon blanc. The chateau says it is the best Pavillon Blanc ever. 100% sauvignon blanc."
Weinwisser: "100 % Sauvignon Blanc.
Decanter: "Gorgeous peach tone on the nose, with bright lemon, clementine, green apple skin and crushed stones too. Super sharp and fresh straight out the gate, this is searing, focused and neat with a shot of lemon juice, so zingy on the mid-palate giving a green apple and peach freshness towards the end. Fruity and extremely lively. It has an unctuous texture, not weighty but delectably textured with a silkiness. You have the acidity but also the opulence, it’s both sharp and immensely layered. A joyful combination of freshness and power - supremely impressive with vibrancy and mass appeal."
Dunnuck: "While the red gets all the love at this heralded address, don't miss their white, which has hit incredible heights over the past 7-8 years. Coming from a selection of 52% of the production and all Sauvignon Blanc, the 2021 Blanc De Margaux offers a vivid perfume of white grapefruits, salted citrus, and honeyed minerality. This carries to a medium-bodied, vibrant, vivid white with bright yet integrated acidity, plenty of mid-palate concentration, and a great finish. It needs 2-3 years of bottle age, but it's a brilliant wine in the making."
Wine Advocate: "The 2021 Pavillon Blanc is one of the finest recent vintages of this cuvée, combining complete maturity with incisive acids to striking effect. Offering up aromas of confit lemon, citrus zest, crisp orchard fruit and wet stones, it's medium to full-bodied, chiseled and tensile, with striking concentration and chalky structuring dry extract, concluding with a long, mineral finish. It was picked between September 7 and 13 and attained 13.3% natural alcohol."
Galloni: "The 2021 Pavillon Blanc is a fabulous example of how compelling the vintage is for the best dry whites. It marries the nervy freshness that has characterized the Blanc of late and yet also has quite a bit of textural richness. I was pretty shocked by its weight, to be honest. Lemon confit, white flowers, sage and mint gradually unfurl in the glass. Quite simply, the 2021 is one of the finest Pavillon Blancs in recent memory."
Wine Cellar Insider: "White flowers, yellow citrus and orange rind with a hint of white peach. green apples and spice nuances are all over the place here. The wine shows a lushness and rich character that is equally fresh, crisp, and vibrant on the palate and in the finish. In fact, it is almost racy in its attitude. The wine is produced from 100% Sauvignon Blanc. 13.3% ABV. Drink from 2024-2037."
Neal Martin: "The 2021 Pavillon Blanc, picked between 7 and 13 September, before the rains, has a well-defined bouquet with scents of pineapple, kumquat, touches of white peach coming through with time. The palate is very concentrated with sour lemon that counterbalances the fatness and density. Touch of lemongrass on the finish."
Robinson: "Harmonious, elegant with poise and precision from start to finish. An ethereal quality to the citrus-led aroma and flavour. Drives from the word go so great persistence and length. Should age. One of the best Pavillon Blanc’s yet? Drink 2024 - 2036."
