Decanter: "Succulent and juicy straight away, this has a little party in your mouth giving the chalky strawberry, perfumed blackcurrant, dark chocolate, liquorice and pencil lead all together - bringing a ton of fruit, spice and acidity with thrilling results. You get a touch of austerity still, the minerality and salinity on the tongue but I love the expression here. Feels well worked, all in harmony with such precision on show. Pure class with a seductive core, gentle frame but intense concentration. Super long finish. The Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot really add that extra touch of deliciousness and intrigue. The star for me in the very impressive Moueix lineup this year."
Suckling: "Very polished with fine tannins that finish intensely. It’s a medium-to full-bodied red with focus. Blackberry and blackcurrant flavors. Hints of tobacco and nutmeg, too."
Weinwisser: "Was f√ľr ein delikates Parf√ľm, Waldhimbeere, Veilchen, schwarzer tasmanischer Bergpfeffer. Im zweiten Ansatz zarter Iris-Duft, edle Cassisw√ľrze und Lakritze. Am subtilen Gaumen mit seidiger Textur sowie fein k√∂rnigem Extrakt, besticht durch eine ungeheure Eleganz und Finesse; ein perfekt geformter Athleten-K√∂rper. Im konzentrierten Finale verschlankt sich der Pomerol und endet mit roter Kirsche, Estragon und dunkler Mineralik. Back to Classic! F√ľr Freunde klassischer Pomerols mit Geduld ist dieser Rohdiamant ein MUST-BUY!"
Dunnuck: "Unquestionably one of the standouts in the Moueix stable is the 2021 Ch√Ęteau La Fleur-Petrus, a beautifully balanced, medium to full-bodied, elegant Pomerol that readers will love. Vivid purple in color with lots of cassis and darker berry fruits, it has classic Pomerol graphite, damp earth, and chalky minerality, some background oak, perfectly integrated tannins, and a great finish. It's already hard to resist and is going to drink nicely right out of the gate."
Galloni: "The 2021 La Fleur-Pétrus is a regal, elegant wine. Rich and sumptuous, yet classically medium in body, the 2021 is impeccably balanced from start to finish. A rush of red/purplish fruit, rose petal, mint, blood orange and cinnamon build into the exquisite, layered finish. The 2021 reinforces my view that La Fleur-Pétrus is the wine to focus on in the Moueix range. Hosanna and, especially Trotanoy, are more famous, to be sure, but in 2021 those wines are heavily shaped by the growing conditions of the year, while La FleurPétrus is simply La Fleur Pétrus. Classic Pomerol as far as I am concerned."
Wine Cellar Insider: "Deep garnet in color, the wine opens with flowers, chocolate, truffles, licorice, espresso, dark plums, and red pit fruits. Plush, soft, and polished on the palate, with supple-textured, silky fruits in the elegant and almost flamboyant, sensuous finish. This is really quite strong, especially when you consider the difficulties in the vintage. The wine blends 95% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot. The harvest took place September 23 - October 6. Drink from 2025-2049."
Falstaff: "Kräftiges Rubingranat, violette Reflexe, breitere Randaufhellung. Zarte Brombeernote, ein Hauch von dunklen Herzkirschen, zart nach Orangenzesten, auch rote Fruchtaspekte, etwas scheu. Komplex, engmaschig, schokoladige Textur, reife Tannine, etwas Kirschen und Nougat im Abgang, pikante Säure, zitronig im Finish, zeigt Länge, wird von Flaschenreife profitieren."
Wine Advocate: "The 2021 La Fleur-Pétrus is performing nicely, exhibiting aromas of plums, cherries, sweet soil tones, loamy soil and licorice, followed by a medium to full-bodied, ample and seamless palate that's lively and charming. Classically proportioned and nicely balanced, if it takes on additional depth with élevage, I'd expect it to land at the upper end of my bracketed score."
Perroti-Brown: "The 2021 La Fleur-Petrus is a blend of 95% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc, and 1% Petit Verdot. Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, it comes galloping out of the glass like a thoroughbred, featuring very pure scents of fresh blackberries, crunchy black plums, and Morello cherries, plus suggestions of red roses, cast-iron pan, and crushed rocks. Medium-bodied, the palate is very finely textured and beautifully nuanced with loads of mineral and floral sparks among the intense red and black fruit layers, finishing with great length. This is a gorgeous Pomerol - bravo!"
Robinson: "95% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc, 1% Petit Verdot. Cask sample. The winner in the J-P Moueix stable this year, in my book. Elegant but restrained with just that bit more density on the mid palate than the other wines. Fine texture and tannins with drive on the finish. Elegance and balance combined. (JL)"
Neal Martin: "The 2021 La Fleur-Pétrus was picked September 23 to October 6. The nose came as a surprise: very opulent and high-toned, too much if compared to the Hosanna or Trotanoy. In fact, re-tasting from another bottle later in the day, it comes across not unlike the Bélair-Monange. The palate follows suit in an unashamedly rich and quite ostentatious vein, delivering very good depth, with pain grillé infusing the lush red fruit. I requested a second bottle. This was quite similar, perhaps with slightly less volatility and definitely with more freshness on the palate. Difficult to judge; I look forward to retasting in bottle."
