Dunnuck: "I loved the 2021 Château D'Aiguilhe, and this is one Castillon that over-delivers. Offering pure cassis and darker, almost blue fruits as well as notes of white flowers, it's medium-bodied, has a round, supple mouthfeel, ripe tannins, and a great finish. I'd be a buyer."
Wine Cellar Insider: "Black cherries, sea salt, flowers and herbs create the nose. On the palate, the wine is soft, fresh, polished and fruity, with silky tannins, chalk and freshness in the finish. The wine is made from 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc. 13.3% ABV. Drink from 2023-2036."
Falstaff: "Dunkles Rubingranat, violette Reflexe, breitere Randaufhellung. Dunkle Beeren, ein Hauch von Lakritze, zart nach Nougat, mit Brombeerkonfitüre unterlegt. Saftig, rotbeerig, reife Tannine frische Struktur, zitronig und lebendig, salziger Nachhall, vielseitig einsetzbar."
Wine Advocate: "Offering up aromas of sweet cherries, dark berries, licorice and flowers, the 2021 d'Aiguilhe is medium to full-bodied, concentrated and polished, with a tangy spine of acidity, beautifully refined tannins and a long, penetrating finish. This is a terrific effort from the von Neipperg family's organically farmed Castillon estate."
Galloni: "The 2021 d'Aiguilhe has a good bit of energy driving its balance. Crushed red berry/purplish fruit, rose petal, mocha and spice are all nicely delineated. I very much like the nervous energy. There's fine potential here."
Decanter: "A combination of ripe summer fruits on the nose with smoked earth and chalky aromas. Lovely energy , the red fruit - strawberry, raspberry and red cherry - stops just short of being tart, it has this deliciously crunchy, almost sour, flavour before settling and revealing the chalky mid-palate. Tannins are fine but give soft support, balancing the elements and driving the flavours from start to finish. So much joy drinking this wine with the terroir showing through and giving the textural elements which are so appealing."
