Wine Advocate: "The 2021 Couvent des Jacobins is a real success, delivering aromas of cherries and plums mingled with notions of sweet spices, licorice and loamy soil. Medium to full-bodied, ample and fleshy, it's impressively concentrated, with a lively core of fleshy, succulent fruit and ripe structuring tannins. Denis Pomarède explains that the estate's vineyards were heavily frosted: the two hectares of this 10.5-hectare estate that were spared produced yields of 30 hectoliters per hectare, the rest a derisory four hectoliters per hectare."

Suckling: "Bright berry, cherry and currant character with some black licorice. Medium body. Fine tannins. Delicate. 70% merlot, 23% cabernet franc and 7% petit verdot."

Galloni: "The 2021 Couvent des Jacobins offers terrific density and plushness for the year. Blueberry, spice, new leather and menthol are nicely dialed up. Succulent and easygoing, the 2021 offers plenty of near-term appeal. There's plenty of charm here."

Wine Cellar Insider: "Medium/full-bodied, rich, fleshy, round textured sweet, dark cherries, licorice, espresso, flowers and black plums hit all the right notes. The wine is soft, energetic, aromatic and supple-textured in the finish, which leaves you with sweetness and freshness providing length and energy. Drink from 2023-2035."

Neal Martin: "The 2021 Couvent des Jacobins has an understated bouquet of blackberry, briary and graphite scents, nicely focused and fresher than some of its peers. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit, fine tannins, good length and a touch of sapidity on the finish. This Saint-√Čmilion comes recommended."

Decanter: "Upfront and fruity at first, this gets off with a bang, giving tart red fruit and then a chalky, dark chocolate and graphite sensation comes in. Broad and plush tannins coat the mouth and give the grip. It has a touch of wood on the end, some cedar and stalky aspects that just poke through. Direct with focus, feels well made with definition and juiciness."

Falstaff: "Dunkles Rubingranat, violette Reflexe, zarte Randaufhellung. Frische schwarze Waldbeeren, ein Hauch von Pflaumen, frische Orangenzesten. Schlank, rotbeerig, frisch strukturiert, feine Tannine, salziger Nachhall, ein lebendiger Begleiter bei Tisch."
