 Mit Canon la Gaffeliere hat dieses Gut nicht nur die Namensgleichheit gemein, sondern auch hier regiert ein Graf, der Graf Leo de Malet-Roquefort. Das Gut liegt etwas orsteinwärts Richtung St. Emilion nach Canon la Gaffeliere. Das Gut ist wirklich nicht zu übersehen, man fährt zwischen den Kellergebäuden und dem Chateau hindurch. Auf La Gaffeliere sind etwa 20 Hektar mit 40 Jahre alten Rebstöcken bestockt, die Jahresproduktion umfasst 10.000 Kisten.

17 RENE GABRIEL: ": Extrem dunkles Purpur mit lila und violetten Reflexen. Das Bouquet ist genial, zeigt viel Cassis und Heidelbeeren, also so viel
Frucht wie noch nie ein La Gaffelière in der Jugend zeigte, dahinter Rauch und Lakritze. Im Gaumen Amarenakirschen und Nuancen von einem
Amarone, endet mit Malagatrauben. Der Nasenbeginn hat zu viel versprochen, die Vinifikation hat von traditionell auf avandgardistisch gewechselt.
Der goldene Mittelweg wäre idealer gewesen. Schade!"
17 **** DECANTER: "Fresh and elegant, as is the style. Less opulence than 2009 and 2010 but attractive fruit and plenty of charm and finesse. Chalky terroir evident."
90-93 PARKER: "One of the oldest family-owned vineyards in St.-Emilion, La Gaffeliere has been owned by the same family since the 1400s. The 2011 performed slightly differently in multiple tastings, but overall, it appears to be an outstanding, elegant, restrained, somewhat austere, but impressively built wine. The final blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc produced nearly 5,000 cases from their 42+ acre vineyard. The wine exhibits lots of earthy, balsam, resiny notes interwoven with red and black currants, cedar and underbrush. This elegant, dense, medium to full-bodied St.-Emilion should drink nicely for 15-20 years." |
