 Warum nur wurden früher auf diesem Gut so schlechte Weine produziert? Mit ein Grund für den phänomenalen Qualitätswandel ist wohl Patrick Valette, Sohn des vormaligen Besitzers von Chateau Pavie. Der symphatische End-Vierziger vinifiziert mittlerweile einige weltweit führende Weine und ist seit 1996 auch auf Chateau Berliquet verantwortlich. Michel Rolland steht ihm beratend zur Seite. Das Gut liegt malerisch ganz oben auf dem Hügel von St. Emilion und hat eine traumhafte Aussicht. 9 Hektar ergeben 1700 Kisten Wein, die Cuvee besteht zu 70% aus Merlot, zu 25% aus Cabernet Franc und zu 5% aus Cabernet Sauvignon.

Made from 75% Merlot, 22% Cabernet Franc and 3% Cabernet Sauvignon, this wine is looked after by the impressive duo of Nicolas Thienpont and Stephane Derenoncourt. The dense blue/purple-colored 2011 offers a big, sweet kiss of blackberries, black cherries, licorice and crushed chalk. It possesses plenty of minerality as well as impressively concentrated fruit and a nicely extracted (but not over-extracted) personality. It will provide plenty of enjoyment for 15 or more years." |
